She used to slip all sorts of stuff into his food. And with her awful cooking, the drugs probably tasted better than the food.

Hubby just made me a coffee in the birthday present I gave him years ago. We dragged it out of the pantry when we gave that a going over and I tell you what, I may not sleep for a month!!!
We have just finished moving another 3 metres of mulch and we reckon it will take another two loads then the f4ront yard will be finished. I shall take a photo once it is done, but it will be a bit like the Harbour Bridge, once we have finished we will have to start again!

ACK! I lost a post just as I was about to copy it for good measure.
Hello again!
Though I am quite sure MizT is probably fast asleep in bed, I thought I would suggest that members of a local wood turning organization might gladly help remove some of the downed oak tree from your premises.

Good afternoon - just back from the hairdressers looking halfway decent again - only halfway mind!
Has anyone ever walked off a job? Hubby took on a job to do some gardening for a woman. From what she said he estimated abour 4 hours and verbally quoted on that. When he was almost finished, in just over 4 hours, she decided that there was more to do that he had quoted on. He stayed for the full day, knowing that he would be underpaid but not wanting to get a bad reputation. There was rubbish to be removed still and he called in this morning to collect that on his way to another job. She expected still more from him and would not pay more. He walked off and we have written the day off as a loss. What else can you do? Now we have to hope she doesn't blacken his reputation just because she expects slave labour!

Not a problem, Gail. I'm off to bed. Good Night, Everyone! (Heidi, isn't it about time for you to feed the dogs and get to bed? I hope you haven't had major thunderstorms.)
Have a good day tomorrow in Sudokuland!

CynB, unfortunately there will be those who try to take complete advantage of you. If there was a written contract for what she asked to be done and the quote, you will have that to show to anyone who questions. From what you said, she would continue to have more for him to do for days to come. I'm so sorry you both had to deal with that!

That's what we decided, Julie. There would be no end to it - all for 4 hours pay!! Hubby probably would have kept doing it being the softie he is but I saw red. He's too nice and too much of a perfectionist and I have seen people take advantage of his good nature over and over again in the past 25 years.

STILL planning lessons.
Cyn, can't think of anything else your husband could do. Maybe a quote pad for jobs in the future? See what one bad customer does for the rest of us!

Suzy - he has a quote book which he should use, but Mr. Trust-everyone thinks people will be fair if he is. He thinks I'm just cynical - which I am - and proud of it. Nobody puts it past me.
Planning lessons? And they think a teacher's work is done when school finishes for the day! You'll be a good one.
Yesterday we watched the old 60's movie 'To Sir with Love' and it was still inspirational today as it was then. The difference between a good teacher and a bad one. I can still remember the 'good' ones and I know I did better in their classes because I was interested enough to listen - except in Physics (sorry Suzy) could NOT get my head around that and still can't.

'To Sir with Love' is one of my 2 favourite movies, the other coincidentally also contains Sidney Poitier. It is 'A Patch of Blue'.

Hi Broni - I came back during a commercial break but probably missed you.
Gail - that was a sad one 'A Patch of Blue'. But I must admit that while watching TSWL yesterday I was falling about laughing at the dancing - and I shouldn't, I used to dance like that myself - what were we thinking?? We though we were soooo cool.

Thanks for asking, Broni. Mum is a lot better and was in good form (for her) when I last saw her. MIL is recovering slowly, they have changed her medication slightly but can't do a whole lot for her as she'd never survive another operation. She had a quadruple by-pass on the day of 9/11 2001 and it was not totally successful. She's on oxygen a min of 18 hours a day, has severe diabetes plus other disorders - kidneys not functioning too well. All-in-all, she's alive because she's not ready to go yet! She's a real trooper/trouper (sp?) with a wicked sense of humour, like her son.

CynB, sorry hubby has found one of the people who take advantage, they are out there. yes, hubby has walked off a job before, when a customer could not be satisfied. He usually has a written contract, too, and that helps a lot. No, the customer that took advantage did not blacken his name, I think sometimes these people are known for their habits and their word does not do much damage. I hope that is the case for your hubby. Better luck the remainder of the week.

Hi all!
Cyn: my husband Darrell has a laptop repair business (in the house) and he sometimes feels he undercharges folks!! Most people here, however, are not bright enough to realize that if he was a different type of person, he could take total advantage of them...Too bad about what happened with your hubby, maybe he should keep a list of people to NOT do work for anymore?? My hubby does that with people on Ebay.

Cyn there are people like that all over the world and people like us get caught by them. My husband and I got caught be some a few years ago and lost out on a few hundred pounds, but it wasn't worth the hassle to recover the money, but we soon learned not to be taken advantage of again. Some people I would help and do a little more for no extra charge but others will take advantage.

To Sir With Love was a great movie!! I haven't watched it in a long time. If I had a choice, I'd watch old movies (rather than some of the new stuff the movie companies come up with). One of my FAVORITE old movies is "Breakfast At Tiffanys". I love Audrey Hepburn!!!

I wish Col was over here now, my garden could do with some work. The last time my gardener was due to come it rained and I think he is on holiday now.
I have left a message on his answer phone but if I don't hear back from him I am going to have to borrow a lawn mower and cut the grass myself.
