I hope you are well Gail....
I realise now that all those aches and pains I was experiencing Thursday was because I was coming down with the flu... not just because I had been gadding about every night during the week [tho no doubt that is where I caught the bug]. Day 6 tomorrow so I should be past the infectious stage soon! Have had to cancel a few appointments this week because of it. Lachie now has it but Pete is still well. Incubation period seems to be 2 - 3 days.
I'm off to check out some photo's.

Cyn... this has been a bugger of a flu... sore throat and straight to the chest... my ribs hurt from all the coughing... it even had me thinking about 'coffins'. Thankfully I am past that stage and I do believe that I will survive!!! The good thing has been that fact that there has been very little in the way of 'sniffles'... bit of a runny nose on Saturday but not at all like the usual blocked up head that you get with a cold. Can't remember when I last slept so much.

My Flu has had two surprising effects on me -
No.1 - I have not been able to put a cigarette to my lips since last Wednesday. Do NOT let this excite you because although at the moment I still do not feel like ever going there again, things may change and I reserve that right.
No.2 - I have lost a heap (read kilos) of weight as I have not been able to eat either and have survived on the odd banana, a few dry biscuits/crackers and umpteen cups of tea. I still do not feel very hungry and - sit down for this one - don't even want chocolate.
Lord, what is wrong with me?? I am forcing myself to eat.

Bean - we never got the sniffles, or head cold - just straight for the chest. Coughing so much that we have pulled muscles where we didn't know we had any. And yes - sleeping - all day, just waking to cough.

And yes, on Sunday, I thought I was dying. That's when Col took me to the Doc's - I'd been refusing to go.

Sounds like the same bug to me... I have been feeling too sick to go to the doctor if that makes sense... I've been keeping an eye on my swinging fever and if that had suggested a serious secondary infection I would have gone. Not much the doctor can do for the flu other than to tell me to do what I was doing. Antibiotics don't help.

One good thing about being so sick was I was too sick to care that we had no internet connection! I cannot believe how sore my chest has been... raw inside the airways and also sore intercostal muscles from all the coughing. Can't remember when I last needed salbutamol but have certainly made up for it. I think my sniffles were related to allergy more than anything... north wind blowing all day Sat when I had the sniffles... responded very well to antihistamines which I thought diagnostic. We haven't had a proper meal for days...I am going to make some vege soup tonight... chop up some stuff while I sit and watch TV. Nothing like a pot of soup to make us feel better!

At least we are well enough to get on here and laugh about it!!
Lachie heard an announcement from the health department advising people with flu like symptoms to stay at home until they have resolved... he has quarantined himself from school... LOL...

Pleased to hear that both Cyn and Bean are recovering from the flu.
Being flippant it sounds as if I could use a dose of it if it helps in weight loss. Honestly I don't want to get flu it sounds horrible. I was reading on the BBC news site that we(UK) are watching how the Australians deal with the swineflu as you are in winter now. It should help our health service etc know what to do. They did point out that even though we are in summer?? the flu is still spreading rapidly.

Talked to my girls on Skype last night, they are now in Jasper. Staying there for 2 nights before heading west to go to Vancouver. They are starting to really enjoy their trip.
Better news on my friend. She is now in a High dependency unit rather than intensive care unit. She still has a tracheal tube in, but hopefully that will be taken out any day now. They have had her sitting in a chair for a little while each day. Unfortunately she has started vomiting, so they are a little concerned about that. Two steps forward one back, but at least she is getting better.

Good evening all. Get better soon Cyn and Bean. Sounds an awful flu.
Pleased you are now home safely Mamacita.
Finished the painting at MIL's unit, put down the lino in the kitchen, did some cleaning and helped get the double bed down the stairs (16 steps). I think my back is protesting a bit but a good nights sleep and I should feel better. Have to go back tomorrow to pick up the stuff that would not fit in the ute tonight.
Too tired to think tonight but did think of each of you as I read your comments..

Evening all!
Cyn and Bean, I'm glad you are feeling better - that flu sounds awful! With one of you in Queensland and the other in Victoria it doesn't sound like an isolated flu either. Glad you are on the mend and hope your muscles stop aching soon.

Speaking of muscles, June you have outdone yourself again today! I hope your back is better after sleeping.

Brenda, the girls' trip sounds wonderful. Even better that you are able to talk to them while they are away. I didn't call home once during my trip! Now that I'm a parent I wonder how Mum felt. Even though I was older than your girls, it was my first trip OS.

Your friend sounds like she is past the life threatening phase and into the horrible 'what is wrong with me and why don't they fix it phase'. I hope she starts complaining soon as that will be a good sign. Can you visit her now that she is out of the ICU?

Still can't visit, but that is at her request. She didn't want anyone visiting her Sunday and Monday, not even her daughter or parents. I spoke to her mother yesterday who gave me all the info.

I doubt we would have been able to keep in contact quite as much with the girls if it wasn't for Skype. The place they are staying at in Jasper provide free WIFI so they didn't have to find a cyber cafe, which ia a bonus.

Good Maen everyone! Thanks for letting me vent & your support! I know people move intrastate all the time, I think it's gotten so difficult because of our economy. At least we know there is property available in our price range...trying really hard not to stress over this whole thing...please keep good thoughts for us, THANKS!
For those who are under the weather, get better soon.

So much for getting a nap. i was just about to head to the bedroom when Melony (my oldest rescue collie) strolled by. She STANK! She had soiled her coat. She still had her full winter coat as well. so I decided to clip her immediately. She's a lot more comfortable now, and doesn't offend my dainty nostrils.

Popping in for a bit, I have a PROBLEM today. My bathroom had become a babbling brook again. A leak in that flexible pipe that connects water supply to the tank. My huge bath mat was soaked, the carpet under it was soaked. We had to pull up the carpet and dry out the floor, such a mess! I have fans going now to hopefully help some of the wet. I happened to go in barefoot this morning straight out of bed and discovered the wet spots, yuck!

The fix was easy, just a tightening of the connection to the tank. I know this is the second time that has happened, and we cannot for the life of us figure out why it loosens all by itself. I am ready to GLUE it on there, permanent like hehehe.

Lucky this area with the potty is very small floor, will not have to replace much carpet, and it ws the 3x3 ( square meter) sized carpet tiles, only need 2 to replace. I think we have that many out in the storage building. But first make sure that will not leak, then get the sub floor dry. . . hard to do in high humidity.

CYN, I stopped smoking about 8 and a half years ago, after a really bad respiratory infection. I could not stand the smell of a cig even, would send hubby out of the room with his. The " sick" lasted a week, figured by then I was over the worst of the withdrawal symptoms and i could do it. I mean that upper respiratory infect ion HURT, did not want another and luckily I have not HAD another since then! I hope you can give them up, but understand about keeping your options open. I quit twice before the time that stuck. one of those was after another URI, I guess those were practices for the time that stuck!

Hope you and Beanie and Latchie get well soon.

I will try to get photos of Al's new shirts after I finish his corn one. I am not starting it today, this bathroom thing has been enough for my back. Thursday is soon, 2 more sleeps, and doc and I will talk about why this back is acting up so much more now. I know it was injured when I was stuck 6 times for spinal anesthesia, but that was MONTHS ago! The new pain pills he gave me last visit for the bad pain I do like. I take them, the pain goes away and I am not dopey, sleepy, dizzy or high. he said they are much less addictive, but I will probably take more of them than the others, cause it had to be really bad to put up with the side effects, or just go to bed. why waste your pain free hours in bed? Much rather take meds and be able to function, you know?

Hi Everyone
Seems like the flu has hit both CynB and Bean in a really bad way..good to hear that you both are in an improving state of health...keeping you both in my thoughts.
June, please don't over do....bad backs are no fun either.
Gail, Kathy had her ear plugs with her, but they didn't seem to help much...in our defense, Heidi and I had had little to no sleep in more than 24 hours so...at least we had a reason to snore....I really had a good laugh at two comments...Suzy...sexy legs???? You most certainly call me that as long as you know that you are the only person in the world who would agree if you saw them in person..but hey...thanks anyway! I forget who spoke about our early lives when we were all engaging in love, lust and all of those other things that I no longer can even spell....we snored most likely then too...but all of that other stuff covered it up as we lay entwined in each other's arms and all of that good stuff...LOL. Since I'm still in a recovery mode, I think its time I too crash for awhile...more later folks...be good to yourselves and those around you.
Tami, I will be in touch next time I decide to hop on a plane again, but it won't be for a bit. You Must still be tired, after all of that driving..how wonderful it was to meet the entire crew though....next time we meet up it will be much easier. I'm gone for real now.Peace.

MizT...You have really been catching it too....I only quickly peeked at many of the prior comments in an effort to catching up a bit but read enough to know things have not gone as we'd like...I do hope you are once again able to do what you what w/o the need of the heating pad, but thank goodness that that brings some much needed relief Take, and wishing a speedy recovery for you too.
Brenda...I'm thrilled to know that your friend is improving...and I had faith all along that things would better, but will continue to pray that a complete recovery will be achieved.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that more pictures have been added to my page of the Fiona fest. Tami...I didn't get a good shot of you and your guys..so all the more reason to meet again so that I can add to my collection. The ones I took would best to remain in the reserved spot...you could have done that to with the one of Heidi and I playing cards with the guys...hint, hint!

Good Morning SA8.
Hi Mama, bye Mama, hope you have a nice rest.
Yes I know been MIA...building a barge for a concrete block to go in the water for Possum's boat, well it is all done now and my body is objecting to using all those muscles I didn't knew I had.
See everyone had a hoot at the Fiona fest. Cyn and Bean get well soon. Brenda, pleased to hear your friend has improved a little. Was thinking of you all as I read your posts.
Going out on the boat this weekend for a week of rest and relaxation, boy do I need it.

Morning everyone, including sexy legs!
Broni, glad to hear from you! I'm having trouble working out exactly what it is you've been doing - displaying my total ignorance of the needs of boats here...

Nola, I'm wondering what you did for the rest of the night waking up so early. Though if I remember correctly, it's not that early compared to your usual work-rising time so not that much extra time to fill.
