Now I must go and check on the "boys" outside. When they start "practicing" soccer, inevitably somebody (Ian) gets hurt. Hope to catch you later.

NOLA, there are 16 of those flower in the window blocks. Next I will add a border, that is a vine and flowers, all around the quilt. I hope to get a photo of the entire center of the quilt, once I take that down from the wall to sew.

Morning all!
Stella, how scary that you had to convince Meghan to leave work. I'm glad she thought to call you, possibly she was looking for 'yes, it's the right thing to do and not wimpy'. Good news about the examination, but a concussion is still not something to mess around with.

And your aunt! I hope you are one of those people who handle stress really well, otherwise yesterday would have been a very very bad day!

Sending thoughts and wishes to both of them.

MizT, I absolutely love the quilt! Can't wait until it is on your bed and we can see a whole quilt pic...

Lee, you dropped in so quickly I almost missed you.

Nola, there was something I wanted to say but CRS, so will have to go back a page to check...

I remember now - yes, high school. Because of the subjects I took at Uni, to teach primary I would have to do the whole bachelor of teaching and a whole bunch of humanities, for high school I only have to do a Dip Ed.

Vici, I hope to get to see Star Trek later today. First I have to take Ebob to baseball training - an hour drive each way, grrr - then to visit a friend. No sugar? But that means no cake, no cookies, no no no, Oh, I don't even want to think about the nos!

Hi June, and please say Hi to Dino for me!

SUZY, if it stops raining and I have a nice overcast day, will get the quilt in progress out to my deck rail and take photos. That is where I usually pin up a quilt for photographs. Colors show better on overcast day.

Good Night Tami. I think I will turn in early aslo. Everyone must have had a life today, not many posts at all,

Broni, I saw on the news that the horse Heidi mentioned did win. Unusual for a little girl horse they say. Way to go Rachel Alexander. Hope Heidi had placed a small wager on her .

See all of you later

Good Evening, lovely people! I hope your day is/has been wonderful!

MizT, loved seeing the quilt blocks - and can see the 3D effect of the "frames." VERY pretty!

Heidi, hope you enjoyed watching the race from Churchill Downs. Did you have money on the filly? I guess Survivor will be putting on weight quickly now that he has figured out the bucket.

Stella, prayers being sent your way for your aunt. Also prayers for Meghan and hope her concussion doesn't produce any ill effects. How soon does she head to Turkey?

Wow, MizT, comforter size for a queen bed? Hmmm, I have a queen bed.

D2 called us this afternoon and asked how clean the house was. Generally clean, but lots of stuff out for sorting through paperwork, etc. A student of hers (20 years old) had flown into Chicago to have an audition with his potential teacher for next year. Hotel would NOT honor his reservation (booked through Orbitz, and they knew his particulars). Found out only one hotel in Chicago would take someone under 21 IF they could pay cash for the room (not quite New York prices, but exorbitant). Could he take the train out and stay with us overnight? Well, of course, so we have a house guest (in the next room, so I won't be at the computer too late tonight).

I have been trying to post for hours! I kept getting kicked off the site.

Yes, I had money on Rachel Alexandra. But she was such a heavy favorite that I decided to just keep the ticket for a souvenir instead of cashing it. I would have only come out 25¢ ahead anyways.

I got home to a letter for me, telling me that I have to report for jury selection on the 26th. If I have any luck at all, the case will be settled out of court before that. That's normally the case around here.

Afternoon all!
I'm very proud of my efforts this afternoon - I have been tidying my craft room! It almost looks like a craft room again. Unfortunately my sewing machine is broken and so it's not much use to me clean.. Sob.

Tami, sounds like a wonderful dinner. My mum is coming to visit in a few weeks - yay. We've been expecting her for about 7 weeks now, but life gets in the way. It is absolutely brilliant that she is so busy!

Julie, how sad that your 20 year old guest gets to pay for the bad behaviour of others, and great that you can take him in for the night. BTW - with my house I think in terms of hours to respectable. Okay in an hour, 4 hours, 4 days....

Heidi, congrats on your win, and hope the case is settled.

Hmmmm, do I take my unfinished cup of coffee back to the craft room to drink while I'm finishing it, or do I play for a while and go back when it's done??? Stupid question!

GOOD Mean Sudokuland.

It is still gently raining. that is better than the buckets we saw coming down yesterday. Still flash flooding watches and warnings, some of the areas that feed our creeks are getting buckets now. If the creek that floods easiest is not out of banks, it would be at bankfull.

I did nothing to my quilt yesterday. Felt dizzy and you do not want to be on step stool, or using a rotary cutter while dizzy. OR barefooted, but that is another story. I am now forbidden going into sewing room without shoes. Of course, that was before crocs hehehe. Never without my crocs.

Today's goal is to take it all back down from wall, mark design for embroidery and applique, and then cut pieces for the flower, get that "glued" in place. Stitch witchery to the rescue! Might even get the center section all trimmed nicely, if no more dizzy today.

SUZY, good for you cleaning your craft room. If I were close, I sould come help. More fun that way.

I consider mine clean enough if I can see the floor and the top of my counter/table/bench. I am not neat when I sew, too in a hurry to see results.

Hope you can get your machine repaired soon. I was without a machine for a year. Do you think of more things than usual you 'need' a machine for now that it is inoperable?

HEIDI, Do you have a camera? We would love to see Survivor with his bucket of milk. So glad he took to that, easier on your back. Yep, I would probably keep the ticket for a souvenir also. I am glad you enjoyed your day. You did not say, did Gil go also?

Slept through the morning. I need to give Survivor his bucket of milk now. I cannot get a photo of him drinking it, because I haven't seen it. He won't drink if I'm in visual range. I have to leave the milk and go back in the house. When I check back an hour later, it's gone. He's an independent little cuss.

This time, I hid around the corner and waited. He waited for about a minute, didn't see me (and I was down wind) then walked over to his bucket and happily drank his milk.

Yes, MizT.... Gil went with me to the Downs, for the first time. I always stay through all the races, but IH decided he didn't want to. He had made an appointment with someone that evening, so had to be home by 6 pm. The Preakness went off at 6:15. So I rushed back home to watch it on our TV (after placing my bet). I got home just as the horses were coming out on the track. As they were going into the starting gate, the DISH service went out. Technical trouble. I missed the race. Fortunately, someone posted it on YouTube within 15 minutes.
IH isn't going with me again , or if he does, he gets a ride home with someone else.

OH HEIDI, I am soo sorry you did not get to see the race live and in person. Yep, I would take separate cars or have a back up plan for my ride home next year.

That Survivor really has a personality for one so young. Wonder why he will not drink while you were there? You said he had to sneak milk from cows not his Mom? Maybe he thinks he has to sneak this milk also?

I once saw him sneak milk from his mom, too. But I think that he's not comfy around people. He's been living out with the herd, and the only 2 times he's had close contact with people were when I caught him and ear tagged him 2 weeks ago, and when he was vaccinated and castrated 2 days ago. Can you blame him for not being friendly with me?
