IH can be such a maroon. He told me that the frozen hose was frozen to the frozen hydrant, the cows had no water, and he couldn't get the hose off. He claimed that I would need my biggest plumbers wrench to get it off. I went out with a bucket of warm water and a pair of pliers..... and turned the end of the hose the right way.... and it came off with no problem. IH had been tightening it, not loosening it. The tank is now filling. (The hose had been attached to a float valve which automatically fills the tank... labor saving in warm weather, but useless in freezing weather)

HEIDI, I must share my thaw a frozen pipe or hydrant method with you. We lived once were north wind would freeze pipes under my bathroom, in this mobile home. Dogs would knock out the one piece of underpinning that was right in front of the pipes, and I would wake many mornings to no water.

I have a hot air popcorn popper, and would sit it on a concrete block so it was within inches of the pipe. Plug it into a long extension cord, run it around the corner to the outside receptical and plug in. that would turn it on, go back in house, turn on indoor faucet. When I heard water running again, I could go and unplug the popcorn popper, make sure there were no leaks under house and back in business with minimal outdoor time.

It gets hot enough to thaw pipes within 30 minutes, but not hot enough to damage pipes or insulation or timbers.

Neighbors started borrowing my corn popper hehehe.

Cute trick. The thing was, the hydrant wasn't that bad. The hose was the main problem. Once I got that off, the hydrant worked just fine. IH doesn't know which way to turn the connector to disconnect the hose. He also can't change a light bulb, but that's another story. i need to go out and turn the water off now.

I am glad your cows are getting water now. Do you have a well that you get water from for the animals? Here, the county water authority was having trouble during the drought, because so many ranchers and farmers were watering livestock (and paying dearly for the privilege of it) from county water. County had enough water, just did not have pumping capacity to keep up with demand! Many farmers and ranchers depend on catch ponds, just huge "bowls" scooped out to catch rain water and run off from rain water. these are the first to go in drought. many pastures became unusable with no water available! The farm where we lived for a while, only 55 acres, but they ran some cows there, had 3 wells, the well pump was not working when we lived there, but I am sure could have been repaired .

Righty tighty, Lefty Loosey Now if I can just remember which is left and right heheh. Hold up your hands Tricia, point out your thumbs, and the one that makes the L is left! hehehe

Dyslexia, and that is how I really remember which is left and right! Do not ask me all a sudden, which way do I go here, left? I can only look and point THAT way, hubby is now accustomed to that when I am co-pilot and navigator. I could even say My side or your side, but not left and right!

I;m exactly the same with right and left. And the problem with hoses is... which direction are you looking from? From behind the hydrant, clockwise is off, from in front, counterclockwise is off. I just figure, if one direction doesn't work, try the other direction.

The tank was only half full. The cows are drinking it almost as fast as it's filling. Each cow drinks 25 gallons of water a day. `~40+ cows. The tank holds 600 gallons. So it takes nearly 2 fillings to water them each day in the winter.

Once the tank is full, I'm heading out to get a christmas tree. I always get a live one. It helps support another branch of agriculture. Fake trees support the oil industry.

Hi everyone,
Had an accident Thanksgiving. Fell down 2 steps. Cut my eye, lip swelled up, and did a job on my left knee. Black and blue from the ankle to knee. Doc took X-rays, nothing broken. Limping around, Will take a long time to heal,

I've decided to hold off 'til Monday to get the tree. I forgot that it's Saturday, and everywhere will be crowded. Instead, I'm going back to bed.

OH, Bobbie, not fun to fall. I hope you recover quickly. Only down 2 stairs? My sister fell down 3, and broke her wrist and both bones in her arm on one hand, sprained the other one, just before Thanksgiving. She is basically helpless now. she is still a young chick too, only 60!

So, see, it could have been worser for you! I am glad nothing was broken and hope you recovery is fast and pain is better each day, dear!

Love your avatar, wish I was out walking on that beach today. Temp is still in the 30's here, and that is COLD for us this late into the day!

Oh dear Trouble's mum hope you feel better soon, I know it will take a little while but should ease a little each day. Take it easy and let people do things for you if they can just until you feel you can do them for yourself without pain.

Mariana, i have just had a look at the price for My Family 1-7 and it is a little expensive, cheapest I could find it for was £35 (approx $51). Hope you didn't have to pay much more than this.

My mom's biggest trouble (other than me) is that she is stubborn and doesn't let people help her. She is doing good. Luckily it wasn't bad but her knee swelled up and she is black and blue. My dad is telling everyone that he beat her up. People who know my parents know what a joker he is.

i could find it for that price, but they wouldn't ship to the US. i got it on e-bay and had to pay full price as the bidding ended too close to christmas to make it on time. 75.00 + another 10 for shipping. hubby had better love it! we have a few videos from italy that needed a multi regional dvd player, so it made sense to get that too.
my hubby got me an early christmas present...tickets to a neil diamond concert. woohoo!

Good Morning SA7, hope you are all well and bigs hugs to Trouble's Mum.
Would like to thank you all for your help in trying to track down Rayray, especially Bean, Brenda, Becky, Ian and CP. Still no luck to date as I think he must have a silent number and still no email from him either.
Back for another full day working on the boat (and Heidi don't worry I will be getting another boat, just something a bit easier to handle by myself)
Will check back in tonight with any news.
Have a great day all.

Hello gang!
Oh Bobbie! I had 2 bad falls last year - one from the top of a 6' ladder (the fleshy part of my arm broke my fall and other than a bruise there - no other damage...a MIRICAL!) The other one was last year at holiday time and I fell through the ceiling joists of our construction project. My leg and rib broke my fall so I didn't go all the way down to the floor. Had a broken rib, but consider myself very lucky.
Well - that was a whole lot of blabbering just to let you know I'm sending you my warmest wishes for a quick recovery and a big

Hi all...checking in.Thanks guys for always giving out cyber hugs and much encouragement. I have been told that the first would be hard, but after I got through Thanksgiving without all of the emotional stuff that's affecting me now, I thought I'd be okay...sad, but still okay. However it doesn't seem to be working out that way. Miz T,I've tried the smile bit, but as yet it hasn't really worked...but I keep pretending...maybe Julie is right...I may be trying to hard for 'normal'....I don't know, but do hope Brenda is right and things will get easier.Perhaps a nice Christmas avatar will help MizT....
I add my voice to the concern for Rayray....he just has to be getting some help. Please keep us posted if there is any word about him....
