Margaret Whiting singing "Silver Bells" right now. I developed a case of hero worship for her when I was 14. My stepfather (a real ) was having a big party, with all sorts of celebrities and reporters, one summer day. I was amazed that so many people were so fooled by him, and thought he was a great guy. Margaret Whiting had been forced to go by her publicist. I was standing off to one side of the crowd, and overheard her talking to her publicist. The gist was that she couldn't stand my stepfather, considered him the worst sort of phony. That was the first time in my life I had ever heard anybody see through his act.

Hi all. Thanks to all who welcomed me back.

Bean, I thought about coming back last night, but was fading fast.

Got lots done today. Went to Aldi, paid 2 credit cards off, put new lug nut cover on car and cleaned the little boys/girls room.

Tomorrow hubby and I are going shopping for Firefighters 4 Kids Toy Drive.

MizT, hope your hips start feeling better. Your giftwrapping sounds pretty.
I'm aiming to start making noodles this coming week for part of the pressies. The gift baskets are going to have noodles, cookies, and small loaves of bread or crackers and cheese.

Mariana and Stella, between the two of you, I get tired just reading about all of the activities.

Broni, hope the boat maintenance goes well (was going to say swimingly, but didn't want to hear a chorus of groans).

Suzy, know you've already left, but wishing you a good weekend.
BTW, if you can stand the smell, try moth balls in the pantec. Mice don't like them.

Gail, have "fun" at the grocery. I forgot today was mother's day and had to deal with a small crowd.

CynB, bet you can hardly contain yourself. Have fun tomorrow. So happy for you.

Rolanda, envy you with your roses. Wanted to bring home a start of my mom's wild pink roses, but didn't have anyplace in the yard. Now they've been bulldozed. Hmm, maybe my uncle has a bush on the old homestead. Getting ideas here.

Broni.. now what are we going to cruise on when you sell the Calliope ??

Guess we will all have to put in $$ to purchase (and all have a share in the SA owned boat) a Cruiser, in order to continue having cruises.

Becky... major shame about those roses being bulldozed. I hope your uncle does have a descendant.
Broni... I looked at the pix of the boat. I have been trying to figure out how to get her to Kentucky, then realized that she's too big to fit in my farm pond.

Wow, things are quiet here (Friday night in US, Saturday afternoon in Oz).

Heidi's dogs must be fed and she's watching a movie now.

Dizzy Lizzy, congrats on the TOPP and post number 4000! Can you believe we already have 101 pages in SA7?

Dizzy Lizzy doesn't have glue or roses, but Rolanda has both. If I download the PDF of Sinterklaas/Santa Clause, will there be a second page that has the pattern for his legs?

Becky, how nice to see you here and so glad you got so much done today! I'm sorry to hear your mother's roses were bulldozed. Hopefully your uncle has the starter or a cutting from the original from which you can start a rose bush at your home.

Broni, I'm glad you'll have help getting the boat "ship-shape" for selling. Though I'm sure you'll miss her, I wish you a quick and fair sale.

Sorry I missed you, Bean, during your lunch break and posting here.

MizT, I hope you feel better tomorrow! Good luck with the transformation of frames and all the present buying and wrapping! Will you share a picture of some wrapped presents?

Brenda and Becky, your gift ideas sound GREAT! Will we get to see a finished product from each of you?

Mamacita, with all of your efforts to maintain a "normal" Christmas, I hope the real spirit of Christmas will fill you! Is there anything we can do to help?

brenda, you would not believe the amount of money i just spent to get 7 seasons of the series of "my family". we used to watch it here, but PBS (public broadcasting station) doesn't carry it anymore. only 2 seasons are available in the states. i even got a multi regional dvd player to watch them! sometimes it just doesn't pay to be an american!

Heidi and Julie, mom's rose bush was started from one that was on the homestead (uncle's farm). It was huge, 4 ft. high and 7-10 ft. across. If I remember right, there's one in middle of one of the fields. Will have to check when we stop by at Christmas. If I do get a start, will have to make sure it doesn't get that big.

Bean, will try to remember to take a pic of one of the baskets. You might have to remind me, as have been suffering from CRS.

Mamacita, hope when you wake that you're feeling better, both physically and emotionally. The first Christmas is always the hardest. Take care because we do.

Rolanda and Julie, reading about poor Santa's legs reminded me of a couple of jokes. Will try to remember how they go and post them.
