Becky, if you don't have close neighbors, shoot the coons. If you have close neighbors, get one of those have-a-heart traps, catch it, take it out in the country and shoot it (or it will come back). They carry diseases including rabis, so this is no joke. You really don't have to worry too much about a coon biting your cat or dog and giving it rabis. If a pet gets close enough to a coon to be bitten, the coon will probably kill it. You should worry about your children, however. Leave nothing outside a coon can eat and secure your garbage. If you live in a neighborhood, every one has to do the same.

Gail, they can get even bigger. When we came back into the house, hubby was saying that he had never heard me scream like that before and hopes he never will again. I guess we did look kind of funny out there.

Last year our town got rid of the animal control guy. Said we should call the county, good luck there. If you're caught relocating them, it's a pretty big fine and your taken to court to get a lecture. A few years back one neighbor trapped a possum and called animal control. The guy came out, shot it in his driveway and told the neighbor to get rid of the body. The neighbor was fit to be tied.

Each county seems to have its own laws on this. Back home, we shot anything that was considered a danger. Never had a problem. I know what you mean about puppies and kittens. Our first dog and this one were pound puppies.

Gday there Ruby. All right, since Rola didn't know, I'll let the 'cat out of the bag'. There's no such thing as drop bears, it was a joke designed many years ago to scare tourists who wanted to 'go bush'. But it's a secret, so you'll have to swear to keep it quiet.

Well, if people took the puppies and kitties to the pound it wold be good. they drop them off on our lonely roads comming into our area. Let the animals fend for themselves. We see them starving and thirsty and hot, and usually someone of our neighbors will pick them up and nurse them back to health, then find them homes. I had a momma kitty and 3 kittens, Mama brought the babies up to our deck to beg for food, but she wold stay out in the yard and wait on them.

Becky, we are a small comunity in the middle of farms, pastures. We have ferral cats living half a mile from us, around the barns of one of the farms. My kitties were from pets that mated with these ferral male cats.

We were the same MizT. When I was working, I would sms H to meet up in the canteen for a cuppa at smoko. It was easier than tracking him down.
