What style would you like for the room?

My puter did strange things then & I thought I was going to miss out on the topp again for the second page in a row. But I did it

I'm not too sure Becky but something modern. I kind of like the idea of getting rid of the bookcases & putting shelves (modern types) on the wall. A friend of hubbies told him that they wouldn't be too secure for books, so we are at a standstill.

Ugly is the new black dont you know! Thats how all our decor is, very nouveau chique!

Yes, Gail I looked on the BOM website & it looks like it is clearing up now. Hopefully my sis is past the accident or whatever it was that had brought them to a standstill

How about tearing the shelves out of the old bookcases and replacing them with glass edged with chrome. Paint the wood with a contrasting color that'll be on the walls.

We bought this place 5 yrs ago primarily for its size as we had 4 teenage adults if you know what I mean but it was definately a doer upper. Well that was the 5 year plan which has now blown out to the 10 year plan!!!

Yeah not too bad thanks. Cant complain because noone listens anymore. Boohoo. Actually, got to admit, its great since I joined, a semi legit reason for doing nothing.

Gail, with 4 teenage girls, I'm sure doing up the house would definitely be a low priority

I'm always looking for ways to reuse old furniture. That's all I have right now.

In my younger days I had a passion for gloss black. If it wasn't nailed down, I painted it, including the fridge. I'm glad those days are gone.

The 17 yo is constantly at me to paint her room. When we moved in, we gave them carte blanche to draw etc on their walls because of course we were 'gunna' paint straight away. Now I think she might feel a little silly with some of the things she did when she was 12!

I'm going to leave you again. I told myself that at 2pm I would leave to go out shopping & now its 2.15. I told my Mum I would take her grocery shopping (her arm is in a sling after a shoulder op). And I have to do it before sis arrives

Our first desk in there was an old secretary's desk from a department store that went out of business. Talk about butt-ugly. We had to cut off 2 of the legs to get it through the doorway, then dowel rodded them back on. It took our neighbor, hubby and me to move it. Hubby said it was heavier than a dead preacher. Forgot to mention his sense of humor goes along with his color style.

Hubby said that at the end of the financial, there might be enough in the coffers to do some renos. Does that mean I could have an oven that stays shut without jamming a wooden spoon in the door. Oh what bliss.

Gail, at 17 years old, it could be time she learnt how to paint her own room. Or is that a little risky?

Tasteless hubbies hey. Just what the world needs. Why cant they just accept they know nothing and we know everything.

Teach her while she's young. My parents taught us how to do things .. from cars to cooking.

Boy Jenni, you sure know how to set the cat amongst the pigeons! Altho you do have a point. Her older sister did her own because she got sick of waiting, mind you its purple with lime green trim. Its actually nowhere near as bad as it sounds.

Whatever. This is the first time I've been on since the 4th. Thought I'd go nuts sitting here in the evenings without getting my games in.

No Becky you dont get it. I need a new kitchen fullstop! This house was built by amazonians and besause I am a little challenged in the height department, I am forever having to move my little stool everywhere just to dishes etc.

I know what you mean. I'm 5'4' and my sister and SILs are all 5' and under. One asks me to go clothes shopping with her so that she has someone to get things down for her.

I've started to find its all less about the games and more about the new friend network.

The problem was that we took everything out of the room to paint, which meant our network was down. We finished painting yesterday and got almost everything back in and set up today. It's going to happen again this fall. I'm tearing out the old carpet, sanding and refinishing the floor.

My husband is a little over 6' so he doesn't see the problem. We go shopping together so I dont have too many issues in that dept. Our main issue is that the shopping trips are us 'getting out'.
