That is two in one day!! Enough of this, Rola we steam clean the weeds and they shrivel up and die. I would love to meet at Sizzlers or the EV.

Stella thanks for that, I feel a whole lot better now. I doubt I shall ever reach the dizzy heights of MizT and Rola. Their dedication is to be commended.

LYNDA, loved your courtyard, lovely gardens! Weeds do grow in containers, I was pulling a few today while watering. I did not see one weed in those pots of flowers!

OH you were talking about conserving water and watering plants. have you heard of the water absorbing granules that can be addes to the soil? It expands up to 400% and holds the water in, not running through when you do water. I use it to keep from having to water twice a day or have wilting plants here in July and august.

MizT we use water granules and soil wetting agents a lot. That weed was left because the birds like it! We have several hundred finches, canaries and parrots, to keep them in green feed is quite a task.

OH MY that is a lot of birds, you are a real nature lover then! We feed hummers, Al started the summer of his surgery. He spent a lot of time on the back orch, and the hummers got accustomed to him being there. they would come right up to his face and chatter if the feeders were low on thier sugar water!! But we only had 4 or 5 of them!

MizT, we only started out with a few, alas we have a reputation for taking in lost and abandoned animals and the numbers just rose as people didn't want, couldn't keep for whatever reason their birds, so we took them in, and they were boys and girls. The rest I leave to you imagination. We have many native birds too in and around the place.

OH, Lynda, did you find the University campus on google earth? it is the south west corner of shelby county, about 10 miles north of us, in Montevallo.

Now that would be fun, laptop onhand and chat with the virtual lunch guests hehehe. but i think you will not find time for those who cannot be there, too much to talk about with those that are. I have met with many cyber friends over the years, and enjoyed each one of them a lot.

MizTricia, no we stayed in Chilton with a detour to the west to see that industrial complex. When you say hummers do you mean humming birds? WE do have some super little birds like wrens but a lot of our native birds are noisy parrots.

I didn't mean to shout 'we'. My comment at the top of the page looks odd for the start of a page. We take in fish, dogs and cats as well, and people now and again. Makes life interesting. Did you say your husband has had surgery?

YES, sorry, humming birds. WEST of chiltoncounty? then that is not the lime plant I think, that was east and north of Chilton county. I wonder, what did you see? there is a big lumber treating plant on 25 west of chilton county, in Bibb. but I thought that railroad came in from the east, not the north. They add creasote to fence posts and utility poles, and that one STINKS. Big piles of lumber and neater stacks of finished product scattered all over a yard there. And a road that comes in from the south in front of it. Are there links when you have that up? I might could identify if I saw.

yep, he is doing very well, and he was brave. AND lucky, he never had a serious heart atack to leave heart damage from that. His surgery also went like a text book case, no compoications. VERY good surgeon and cardiologist and nursing care.
