I'm sorry i mentioed the 'I' word in my previous post. I hate doing that too, but recently I treated myself to some pure cotton bed linen, which no matter how I dry it still needs to be ironed. I love the feel of the pure cotton in bed but love the fact that poly/cotton doesn't crease as much.

RUBY, My Mom was washing for a family of 6. My dad had work clothes plus what he wore 2 and from clothes. There were 3 preschoolers ( twins and another 2 years younger) so there was a lot of dirty clothes! I think there were still diapers for the youngest. If the weather was cold and we cold notplay in the back yard, I got to mind the younger 3 while Mom was out in the wash house, that was NOT FUN.

Oh How I wish I could have a clothing line. I live in a condo and they are not permitted here. People object to seeing clothes drying outside I suppose. I use to enjoy hanging clothes outside and folding them ...they smelled so good! I don't miss having them almost dry and rushing to get them down as rain storms would catch me in the summer

hi all. I'm not going to try and catch up on all the posts since I was last here - there are far too many!
Is it OK if I borrow your chair for a little while, Rola?

Speaking of nice smells, my bed is now smelling like sunshine. I washed sheets, and matress cover, aired the mink blanket and quilt in the sun, sunned the down and feather pillows. They were so plump when I got them inside, it was a struggle to get them into the pillow cases! I think a little nap is in order, to enjoy the freshness.

Did I mention we have BLUE SKIES? the smoke and haze is gone, for 2 days now, and i love the sunshine and blue of the sky again!

Still need rain, I have been watereing my front grass, takes a LOT of water to get it back to live status. Dragging hoses around is not fun either!

I'd love to be able to hang the washing outside, but we live in an apartment and there isn't a clothes line. However, we don't have a drier as we hang the washing up inside. If we're desperate to dry something quickly there is a communal laundry in the basement with washing machines, driers and an ironing board, all of which require tokens to operate.

Emm certainly knocked out fast -- just as I was getting jazzed about uncorking that wine. Hi, June. I looked at a map of Germany once. Does that help.

Looks like another nice day coming up. Sun is out but can still see a few clouds about. Our winter days at the moment are still getting to about 20c. Nights are cool though and we do put the heater on in the evenings. We just have reverse cycle airconditioners in a couple of rooms and that does us for both summer and winter.

When I was a little girl, my mum would wash on Mondays, in the Copper... Metal Tup filled with Water, heated up by Wood under the Copper. Sheets would hang on the outside lines of the Rotary Hoist with the clothes round the middle lines and the underwear on the very inner lines...

ROLA,

no fair, you mention a new dish and we need the RECIPE. I have never cooked beef and pineapple, sounds good, but what else goes in? I do a nice chicken and pineapple with mushrooms and onions, a bit of soy sauce, good over rice.

Brenda, good job on being TOPP, keep the mix going, keep Stella and Rola from catching me. vdV is catching up also, but have not seen him in a couple days.

Thank goodness, the site is back - it has been unavailable since 10.30am. I was in the middle of reading all the posts, just about to post when it completely went I didn't know what to do with myself in all my quiet moments at work. And I am having withdrawal symptoms from not being able to do the puzzles.

Hi Ruby, & Cyndi. Ruby I work in a medical office, but it is quite specialised & the boss only works half of the day here so the other half I am just here to answer phones (amongst other responsibilities). But it can be quiet at times & I have a little time to kill.
