Cyn: Glad to see you had a good day with remembering your dad...I sometimes feel guilty that I still have both my parents & they're both still healthy. Friends tell me not to feel that way, but it's hard not to...What a sweet comment from your daughter, I miss my grandparents a lot. Darrell never got to meet them, but I think they would have loved him.

OOPS!! Good morning everyone!! Darrell & I are going to Layton to Hill AFB to get our wine & rum. We can't just go to the liquor store because Utah regulates it's liquor purchases, but the good news is at the AFB it's tax free and usually cheaper than State Liquor...Going to say bye for now, will check in later...

Now for my bad news. The Gouldian eggs aren't gonna hatch. The parents gave up on them and abandoned the nest, so I opened the eggs. Neither was fertile. BUT, I have an experienced pair now nesting.

Just heading out for some more work - came in for lunch...Suzy, would sure love to borrow your mower - with all that rain the grass is growing very quickly (as are all the weeds!)
Glad you are feeling better - headaches SUCK!

Thank you Vici! I'd love to lend you the lawn mowers... there isn't much for them to graze on here anymore. I'm having to hand feed them a couple of times a day, which really sucks as the old one takes FOREVER to eat and I have to keep them separated while they are eating. That means I have been venturing out in the dark to get her back in the paddock....

I have compiled your comments about tornadoes, keeping the narrative parts but calling you Alabama, Kentucky and Florida (wanted the comment about no warning compared to hurricanes - ta). Printing it off right now for Ally to take to school.... You guys rock!

MizT, I just read the compilation to my girls while they were eating breakfast. Ebob asked for a copy 'because I really like the way she described it' - that's my wanna be author...

Drying laundry today was a challenge. It is too humid and rainy to hang them outside, to hot and humid to want to use the dryer. I hung our shirts and pants on hangers and put those on the shower curtain rod in the hall bath. Thought they were not going to dry from all the humidity even then, so I put a electric fan in the doorway, blowing on them. My mechanical breeze was just the thing, they are drying nicely now.
Suzy, I could use the mowers next please. I mowed just 4 days ago, and my grass could use it again. All the rain my grass and even my flowers on my deck are growing exponentially.
OH, Suzy I am getting a fruit tree for Mother's Day also! Probably a couple of them. Brown Turkey figs, a variety that should grow in my region. Daughter is sending a check, I will go and pick them up at a nice nursery not far from here. Petals from the Past by name. They sell a lot of native plants and old world roses, and other plants that thrive in our conditions.
We had figs when I was growing up. One of my Father's favorite stories was taking me as a toddler out with him while he picked figs. Our multi-stalked tree required a ladder inside amongst the stalks to reach the figs. Dad was up the ladder, and left me holding a pan for the figs. After he put a handful in my pan, he made sure I saw him eat one. He went back to gathering figs. when he turned to put them into the pan, he said my cheeks were stuffed with figs, and not one was left in the pan. Soon as I could swallow, I was asking, " More pigs, daddy, more pigs". I still love figs!
BTW, Mom was not happy with him for the next two days!

Suzy, watching the swaying of the trees was fun, cause I knew I was safe in the dome. I have always loved watching a storm. If it was raining as we came home, my youngest daughter and i would often make a detour up to the high point in our neighborhood, where we could look over the bowl that is Birmingham,to watch the thunderstorm roll across. The light show of the lightning was fantastic.

Tricia, watching storms can be fun when you are safe inside, but I still do not want to watch a hurricane. It is not fun not knowing what the damage will be when it is over. I imagine the feeling is the same during a tornado. The only times I really like storms is a Saturday or Sunday morning when I don't have to get out of bed. The kids will come in and watch tv with me and it does not matter if it is raining.

CynB, I'm glad you were able to share happy/sad memories of your Dad, may he RIP.
Broni, I hope your computer behaves for a while so you can keep in touch!
Suzy, I hope your headache is better today!
Heidi, I'm sorry the first Gouldian eggs weren't fertile. Wishing you better luck next time! (At least you know they were patient and kept sitting on them long enough.)
Nola, I hope the orchid display was lovely and you got some great pictures. Did you get your visit with Renae and family?
MizT, the "pig" story is so funny!
Suzy, I'm not going to request your mowers. (And if Ebob enjoys reading descriptive writing, you might ask Mamacita if you could share some of hers. She has such a way with words also!

Suzanne, Heidi, I have a history of migraines too, but I guess I have "outgrown" them now. I hope so anyway. I learned a few tricks to keep one at bay or get over it faster.
