It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

Oh, ok, this is the get-together at Gail's? Saturday would probably be best for us, otherwise Rob can't make it, but whatever you decide - I guess I could manage without him!

You guys are the bomb.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and good wishes. I have had word that she is drowsy but came through the op well, and the surgeon is very happy with how it all went.
She will be home on Sunday, all being well.

'Gail' was luvverly, thanks. It has been ages since hubby and I have been out to lunch. There have just been too many negatives going on lately.
Hubby and I both had a salad for lunch, he, the Warm Chicken Salad with Avocado and a Honey Mustard Dressing, and I had a Caesar with Seasoned Calamari, very nice but the croutons were stale (!) and the egg was a little too poached so didn't ooze like it should have.

We are having my brother and SIL for tea tonight.I am very lazy though and am buying take-away chinese because of the different meat/chicken/spice preferences. I did make the fried rice myself though.I really hate cooking, probably because if someone is coming I get anxious, start early and end up burning it.Most of our meals are meat or fish and 3 veg, plain old food but I like it too.

Bean - whilst I agree that it is less than entertaining to skim through dozens of posts from someone racing for TOPP's, I feel it is a bit unfair to single Heidi out. I'm sure a few of us could put up our hands and admit guilt on the same charge. I know I did it on SA5 (I think) until I realised I was making a nervous wreck out of myself, boring everyone on site and getting nothing else accomplished while I raced for TOPPs. I gave up halfway through and whilst I still like to get a TOPP, I do not bother unless there's only a couple of posts to go. I'm sure there are others who could admit the same. I know there are some who have several tabs open - all on SA, all with comments, then just hit the submit button one after the other. I tried that a few times but don't have the co-ordination skills or a fast enough computer to handle it.
My theory on SA8 is that most of us are not trying at all and giving Heidi free rein - that's what I've been doing, if Heidi's around I let her go for it.
I hope I haven't ruffled any feathers here because

Heidi, had to laugh about Angel getting your hat too!
Cyn my sentiments too, we could all put our hands up at one time or another hehe! Would take more than your comment to ruffles theses old chocks feathers, now I will send myself to the NC.

MizT, I have a question for you when you awake.
Heard this on the radio this afternoon and wondered how strong is the belief that Thou Shalt Not Take the Lord’s Name in Vain in relation to music.
Birmingham Weekly:

If you're one of the 16 million people who bought the Eagles' album Hotel California, or if you've spent any portion of your life somewhere other than the underside of a rock, you've heard the song, "Life In the Fast Lane." And probably you like it: 33 years after its release, it remains a standard on classic hits radio stations like Birmingham's Eagle 106.9 FM.

Unlike the vast majority of radio stations, Eagle 106.9 censors the song.

Did you know.....

Fear of Friday the 13th — one of the most popular myths in science — is called paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia. Triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13.

Hi all, I'm still in the land of the living but don't feel like it. I actually went to bed before 10pm last night which for me is unheard of.
Gail pleased to hear that Wendy came through her op well.
Naughty Angel... was that racoon annoying you??
My youngest daughter tried that cake in a mug recipe I posted, we found it a bit dry but that could be because she cooked it too long. D#1 did some baking last night to take into school for 'Comic Relief' From being a house with virtually no biscuits or cakes we have some in but I don't feel up to eating any of it

The trip to the dentist for my son wasn't too painful for him. It was for me or should I say my bank account. It cost me £152. I'll be pleased when his treatment is finished next month.

Brenda - my cake was like that too. The piece I ate straight away was fine but I covered the rest and got another piece later and it was dry too, even though I warmed it up. I think it was because I still cooked it for 3 minutes and my microwave is 1100W - the recipe says 3 minutes for 1000W. You wouldn't think it would make such a difference.

Sorry to have offended a few people by appearing to single Heidi out but I thought long and hard about saying something or nothing. I posted the comment because I think Heidi is a very forthright person and is not in the habit of holding back on exactly what she thinks [you know what I mean] ...karma...what goes around comes around...

I agree...we have all done it at some stage [raced for TOPP’s] but common sense and etiquette usually kicks in with most people only doing it a few times... Don't worry...I wont say much more on the topic...you must all be TOTALLY sick of me by now. There is a lot I could say to explain what prompted my post but I DO NOT want to create an international incident by making a mountain out of a molehill.

Perhaps we should all look back on the posts, their substance and have a good think about what this is really all about. I will say one thing again...the point of my post...I miss the people that have left this forum because of the lack of etiquette here. We are all very caring compassionate people, [well, perhaps you don't think I am anymore], so let us not drive anybody else away from this haven of ours.

I apologise for ruffling every bodies feathers [other than Broni's that is...]...Hope to catch you all around the traps...well maybe not this trap if you are all REALLY upset and don't want to talk to me anymore...

So on that note....as Mariana would say...buona notte

Heidi, the book was entertaining, and somewhat of an action/adventure book, if it were a movie, it would be a guys movie. It had some humor, but I would not say it was hilarious. Guess I did not do a good job on that book report.

Forever asked, Bean I think, name of the book was Time to Hunt, by by Stephen Hunter.

Ahh, yes, it was BEAN. Your self help book sounds like one I should read aloud to AL hehehe. I am bad enough, but he is over the top, wants to keep EVERYTHING, and forever too. I have to sneak his old worn out clothes out of the house when he is not looking. He never misses them.

GAIL, so happy to hear good things about your sister. may the recovery go as well as surgeon thinks the op did!

Nola, your meat and 3 veg meals sound much like ours! I try to get 5 or more fruits and veg into husband daily. If I make all 3 of his meals, it is more than 5. If he gets his own breakfast and lunch, I often have to get 4 or 5 in at dinner! I am getting good at that after almost 7 years now!

Son#1 is home from uni for the weekend and brought 3 American friends with him. One of the girls was telling me that tomorrow is Pie (pi) Day in the US the date being 3/14 as in pi = 3.14. Supposedly they eat a lot of pies on that day. I've never heard of that before. all new to me...

Broni, I am not familiar with either the Birmingham Weekly. I think it may be a " throw away" paper found in resturants and other spots, I need to check that out. I also am not familiar with Eagle Radio 106.9

That said, Birmingham in general would not be as apt to censor as would the surounding rural areas, but Birmingham is in the "Bible Belt" an area where religion is out front in many peoples lives.

I do believe I have heard Al discuss that there were more than one version of some music albums released back in that era, because some radio stations then would not play some things.

I will see if I can find out anything about this and get back to you. Interesting.

Susan, just 'cause I have to spout the jargon, doesn't mean I have to like it! Sometimes I think some of the authors have a self esteem problem. Which is weird because their ideas aren't bad, it's just the way they choose to write them down...

SUZY, I think you and I read the same "ODD NEWS" article about Friday 13 hehehe. I am so glad I did not have to learn to spell those phobias when in nursing school!

How many of your birthdays have been on Friday the 13th? My brother and sister, twins, turned 13 on a Friday the 13th! AND you forgot to mention, we will have three Friday the 13th's this year, today is the second one.

BRENDA, I do hope you get well soon, you sound like this "really has a hold on you" as people around here would say hehehe.

VIV, would love to see new photos of Kira when you take them. How much does she weigh now?

Susan, I have barely heard of Pi Day, and it is not a holiday I celebrate hehehe, but eat PIE? Huumm, maybe I should start observing that one! Seems you will have a FULL house this weekend, hope you stocked up on groceries!

I agree totally Suzy. They like to look intellectually superior, whereas to me, the skill lies in being able to simplify tough stuff so that everyone can understand it. Anyway, isn't that what a teacher has to be able to do? Once you finish your studies, you can file all those readings where they belong.

Susan, yes, agree, teachers should be able to put ideas and material into language everyone can understand. I also agree, that type of writing seems to show a lack of esteem, whether self esteme or trying to make the entire educational system more "educated".

I started to comment on my take of where and when and by whom this type of verbosity started here in southern USA, but I am thinking many would not take what I had to say in the intended spirit of "this is history, what happened". So I will remain mute about that.
