Unfortunately, you're halfway around the world, and with quarantines, it would not be pleasant for her.

Brenda: Thanks for the good wishes, and MizTtricia for your welcome.
I am still significantly lacking in energy and cannot stay on line very long at all. So I can't wait to see responses to my posts at the time - only later when I have summoned up enough energy again.

Good morning lovely SA8 people -
Heidi - Lucky Lucky - getting to come and live with your menagerie - he couldn't have found a better home.
Susan - yes, I think we discussed our previous reservations about meeting on-line friends that day. We've both met so many more since and it's been fun!
Rayray - nice to see you posting here and hope you recover your energy soon.
Stella - IQ is the inbuilt digital recorder from our Cable TV provider Foxtel in Oz.
Nola - glad your daughter and family have found a place to live. It will be nise to have your home to yourself again but still be close enough to see them often.

Rolanda, wishes to your Mum, that sounds painful! She sounds like a go getter though - a trip to Holland even while in pain and nearing 90! And isn't she your ironing lady too?

... as if you didn't all know!
Must look for a large wooden spoon smilie to add to my collection. It would have been very useful!
Heidi I am so glad that you have been able to adopt Lucky. He certainly is that now. I'm not very good when it comes to shelters.. I want to take them all to save them from 'going to sleep'. I understand that shelters cannot all be 'no kill' but it is really terrible when a puppy doesn't even get a chance.
Good to see Rayray drop in.
Nola...you are obviously amongst friends to make that confession...he he
Lots of other comments I could make but would only be repeating what someone else has said so I'll spare you all and resist...

Once again, hello and goodbye Mamacita!
Heidi, don't know if I told you about our trip to the lost dogs' home when we got Jack? People were looking at big dogs, and I thought, Hell NO! Then I saw this little guy shivering in a corner, and when I looked at him he wagged his tail and pushed up against the fence, so I pointed him out to the kids, and when he saw them he got all excited ... I'm sure there was a cunning plot involved somewhere here! They let him out to run around with the kids for a while - and that was that! Of course he sealed the deal by peeing on my skirt (oh, thank you!), which the kids thought was hilarious - they said he'd marked me as his territory! And that's how Jack came to live the Good Life! ;)

Judy that is much the same way Jess came to join us.
She spotted Lachie as we turned the corner to the kennels and didn't let him look at any other dogs.. I had by eye on a little white scruffy dog...I love Westie's ... and the rest is history. We took Tom in and introduced them... naturally top dog didn't think this young pup was a threat.
Tom adopted us...he was a stray and I don't know how many families he had lost before we decided to keep him. He has always had the wanderlust and it became apparent very quickly after we brought him home that trying to keep him contained would be a challenge. He tunneled under my brothers gate while we were visiting in the country and obviously wanted to join our pack. He wouldn't leave... I suspect he escaped from some unsuspecting tourists car. He became very good at surviving whilst he was footloose and fancy free. We advertised on the local radio and when he was unclaimed we decided to bring him back to town rather than see such a character be put down. His first few years were a challenge - an adult dog that has been his own boss for heavens knows how long has some rather feral traits. Luckily he is very bright and learnt quickly...toilet training nearly drove me demented. BIG problem!! His exploits over the years have kept many amused and he has a big following of fans. He missed my mum terribly when she died...when she came to us he FINALLY found his role in life... looking after her. He is very happy now in his old age keeping my MIL company. He is not at all happy when I have to bring him back home [when she is in hospital]

Rob is busy dunking chicken in a Tandoori marinade. He also offered me a taste of the beer he just opened - have to say I'm not a beer fan, but this was ... absolutely FOUL! Yech! Had to have a nectarine to get rid of the horrible taste - does the man have no taste-buds? Can he not tell that this stuff is DISGUSTING?
As they say, no accounting for taste! ;)

Bean, Tom sounds like a real character!
Well, looks like I'm all alone here, so I'll go and see what Rob's found on the telly - sounds like one of his favourite "How to do-up a house and then not sell it" shows, or possibly, "See how horribly we can decorate, and then make other people think it looks good" Not that I'm biased, or anything. Rob gets some kind of strange satisfaction from watching other people's insanity - morbid fascination I guess! ;)
