You have a nice turn of phrase Broni - "the ins and outs of a duck's whoopsy"! Elegant and evocative, Shakespeare would have loved it! ;)

Wow, the boarder is cooking again and these kebabs have banana, apple, mushrooms, onion, tomatos, zuchinni and capsicum...not sure where the marinated meat will fit?

Hey Broni, I don't need a boarder - I have Rob! I think he really enjoys trying out new recipes. (Your boarder does sound like a gem, though!)

Good Maen Sudokuland! Temps are within our norm for this date, crisp nights, pleasantly warm days with the sun, but coolish without. I love spring!

Judy, how did you find a man who likes to cook? Mine will only "help" and if I ask him.

Bean and Judy, loved the story of your dogs Jack and Tom!

Only one of my Bradford Pears is in bloom. I have 3, planted 30 feet apart along one edge of our property. How the "micro climate" can change in 30 feet so that one is in full bloom and leaves beginning to appear, and one has buds still tightly closed is a mystery to me!

Mamaceita, good to see you dropping in to post. We have missed your smiling face. Hope your morning appointment is something fun.

Rolanda, did your Mum launch to Holland without problems? Will you let us know how the trip went for her when you hear?

OH MY, did someone break the site again? Four and a half hours with no posts?
Did everyone in Oz have a date for Saturday night? Did all the topsiders sleep in this morning?
Fess up, where you during those 4 hours?

Funny for the day:

Bob works hard at the office but spends two nights each week bowling, and plays golf every Saturday. His wife thinks he's pushing himself too hard, so for his birthday she takes him to a local strip club. The doorman at the club greets them and says, 'Hey, Bob! Howya doin?' His wife is puzzled and asks if he's been to this club before. 'Oh no,' says Bob. 'He's in my bowling league. When they are seated, a waitress asks Bob if he'd like his usual and brings over a Budweiser. His wife is becoming increasingly uncomfortable and says,'How did she know that you drink Budweiser?' 'I recognize her, she's the waitress from the golf club. I always have a Bud at the end of the 1st nine, honey.' A stripper then comes over to their table, throws her arms around Bob, starts to rub herself all over him and says, 'Hi Bobby. Want your usual table dance, big boy?' Bob's wife, now furious, grabs her purse and storms out of the club. Bob follows and spots her getting into a cab. Before she can slam the door, he jumps in beside her. Bob tries desperately to explain how the stripper must have mistaken him for someone else, but his wife is having none of it. She is
screaming at him at the top of her lungs, calling him every 4-letter word in the book. The cabby turns around and says, 'Geez Bob, you picked up a real witch this time.'

BOB's funeral will be on Friday.

Love the stories of Jack and Tom. We got Rachel by accident also. We had a yorkie named Beau that was 15 years old. My brother called and asked if we wanted to adopt a beagle. I told him that one dog and 2 boys were enough for this house. A few months later, Hurricane Katrina did it's damage. I was watching on the news about all the homeless animals that were being sent to other cities for adoption. A lot were coming to Florida. My heart broke thinking of all the animals and bugged my hubby for a week before he agreed to go look. We went to the Humane Society on a Saturday morning. They had a lot of small dogs running in a fenced in area in the office. One caught my eye. The worker showed us some of the dogs that were in back but there was no connection. We went back to the front office and she pointed out this one dog, the one I had been looking at originally. She picked her up and handed her to me. Well the dog snuggled its head into my shoulder and seemed very happy. I carried her outside to meet the boys and they had a great time. She ended up getting car sick on the way home, but she had already stolen our hearts. The Humane Society had named her Rachel and we thought it fit. We had both dogs for about 4 months when the yorkie died at 15 1/2 years old.

Good Maen all - been loving reading the dog stories. I do believe our pets pick us.

Rola - hope mum made it off to Holland OK. Keeping her back issues in my prayers. I do know how debilitating a bad back can be.
But despite my aching back, I'm out to try and get more yard work done as our storm has been delayed until this evening.

Broni - sounds like you've got yourself a gem for a boarder!
Judy - my Mike is like your Rob, a wonderful cook (years in the Fire Department)...isn't it great? I would much rather do the dishes and have Mike cook, but he is working all day on our addition, so the cooking is up to me these days. He does cook when our girls come to visit.

Tami, thanks for telling us your story about Rachel. How perfect the timing on that, so that you had a pet to comfort you when your Yorkie Beau passed on.

Heidi, nope it was not you driving everyone away earlier today, you were being very good, you were asleep . Do you think Lucky might have some kind of food issues, him being found as a puppy foraging for his food? I know Screech does, her larger male siblings would push her away from the food as kittens. Sometimes early learning is hard to break. Screech is better now, but an empty food bowl must be refilled, or she gets louder and louder and more insistent untill it is. Scooter will just sit patiently beside her bowl till someone notices. she seems to know it will be refilled.

I'm pretty sure he does have food issues, but he should forget them soon. He was abandoned on the side of a road at only 8 weeks old, and was having to forage for himself. And at an age where he's growing like mad. He was only on his own for around 3 days, and was tossing up frogs in the shelter ladies car. But he's spent the past 2 weeks having free choice food. He's already had 3 meals here, and is not a fussy eater.

Poor baby, eating frogs! Smart baby, catching frogs! It is nice that Gil has fallen for Lucky also.

Big OOOPS Gail, unless hubby fell asleep also.

Tami, pretending to be your Mom could cause confusion, maybe that is your aim you little trouble maker you. hehehe

Vici, hope your storm is a little , beneficial one with no damage, just much needed water! Still doing spring clean up?

AGHHHHH, my wrist/thumb is complaining again. I think about holding a heavy book. Holding a book should not hurt. I put away my brace so well I hid it from myself. CRAFT lately. Am I falling apart?

Broni, any leftover Kabobs? It is lunch time and I am hungry, and lazy.

Morning all!
Great overnight reading...

I love the dog stories. We have had 4. The first was a fluffy thing in the US. We didn't want to put him through quarantine when we left and had friends who loved him. They agreed to take him. He is now the most spoiled dog on the planet - his own naturopath, a baby sitter when our friends have to go away, etc etc. Soooo much better than quarantine!

When we got to Oz we took on an elderly Collie called Col. His owner was too unwell to look after him anymore. For company we soon found Shadow from an ad in the newspaper. She is a shepherd cross Kelpie. It has been hard keeping her in the yard at times! Rockie is what we call a pound puppie - rescued from the pound/shelter. He is a staffy cross and is the most loving and affectionate dog you'll ever meet. Col has gone, and people who first see Shadow and Rocky are scared of them, until they get to know them!

Gail, falling asleep on date night! How could you?! I've never done anything like that... (my fingers are crossed so that wasn't really a lie)

MizT, I hope your wrist is feeling better.

Vici, your yard is beautiful due to all of your painful yard work!

Tami, we'll know it's you! Your Mum doesn't talk much....

Morning Everyone.

Yes Mum and Auntie got away ok. They should arrive in Holland around '3.30.pm Sudoku Time' !
Auntie had organised a wheelchair for Mum to and from Holland, when they booked last year, which came in very handy yesterday, now that her back bones are fracturing and compressing together.

Hi Rolanda! Glad to hear all went well with your Mum and Auntie. Have to say that your mention of a wheelchair "to and from Holland" gave me a bit of a start - does it have flotation devices? a souped-up engine? a very long rope?
Ok, Judy, get a life!
