everybody. It's been pouring rain, cats and dogs
all night, and it looks like a swamp here. At least I know the new plants got a good soaking.

Good Mean Sudokuland! Cooler today, cloudy and still windy, but no rain today.
SUZY, would you mind sending good wishes for storms not to bother me, if I let you know when storms coming? ONLY difference this storm, that did not cause a flare, were your good wishes!
Good Morning Brenda, or is it afternoon now for you?
STELLA, good wishes for Ian's surgery, and to you having to deal with an incapacitated male.
I looked at my plant containers that I put on the porch floor out of the wind with thoughts to put them back on the plant stands and bakers rack later today. I think they can stay where they are for a few days, forecast is for frost and perhaps a freeze by Monday morning. I can cover them better to keep warm where they are.

HI HEIDI, your posts showed up when I refreshed. Good for your plants, should get them off to a great start. Mother nature just does a better job of watering!
Warning to our men visitors: GIRL TALK follows, enter at your own risk
I also know someone who put on a bra that way, and taught her daughter also. She was a AA, so I imagine that made it easier. It does not work as well for DD.
Gail, Your mother thought all front openers were racy? One I am currently wearing has 6 hooks in the front and neckline would show under some of my modestly cut low necked shirts. No cleavage with this bra!
Was anyone taught the lean forward and wiggle to "let breasts fall into the cup correctly"? One of the better department stores once had bra fitters. One taught me to do that. That trick, plus her knowledge of her merchandise did help get a better fit. Bra fitters have now gone the way of gas station attendants, everything is self serve it seems.
OK, breakfast to make, ffuts to do, then a few fun things I want to make time for.

MizT.... I hope they're wrong about that frost. Kinda late in the year for it. The people here with orchards have had 2 disastrous years in a row from late freezes killing the newly set fruits and flowers. Don't need a third.

I hope the weather forecasters are wrong also. I am sure a freeze would do local peaches great harm. Today the specific for my zip code forecast says 38 for Monday and Tuesday mornings, I can live with that.
TV forecasters lists a temp range that covers almost 200 miles north with higher elevations and a different growing zone. They often get colder weather.

That's my problem. I'm on the highest elevation between Louisville and Nashville. We've been told that we get the most lightning strikes of anyone in the area.

MizT, we have a specialist lingerie shop over here, not sure if it is in any other country, but their bra fitters look at you and know what size you are.
First time I ever went in there was with my daughter. The first assistant we saw was at the tills. My daughter put her name down for a fitting. The girl asked if I wanted to put my name down too. I told her I didn't think they would have anything in to fit me (the last time I had been measured I was told my bra size) the girl assured me that they would have something suitable, so I thought why not. I ended up buying two rather lovely bras which had a back size 6inches less than I had been measured at the other place. I now have bras that fit me perfectly and feel so good.

Brenda, there is nothing like a bra that fits and does it's job. I am glad you let them help you with a fitting. I am not surprised you were 6 inches smaller in band size. When a less reputable shop does not have the larger cup size you need, they will often go up on band size because larger the band, the larger a C cup would be, for instance.
With a good fitting bra, straps never slip down, backs never ride up. All the difference in the world.
there is now a lingerie shop near Birmingham that has qualified fitters. My sister found Bras there for herself, she found she was a totally different size from all her bras. The bras are a bit pricey for me at the moment, but once Al sells something again, I hope to visit.
Heidi, forecast I use says 29 and 31 for Magnolia for Monday and Tuesday mornings. Any way you can cover your new plants to protect them? they need something to retain the ground warmth, not just a sheet to protect from frost. Heavy mulch with hay would do, and then maybe a blanket or some old cloth feedsacks or the like. It would be OK to leave in place for both nights ( one day) I have left tender new plants covered for longer than that and temps colder than that and never lost a one. I had a stash of old bedspreads, and heavy curtains, blankets and ragged quilts. I had LOT of flowers then!
On the most tender plants, Impatiens and other fleshy, watery plants, I turned a large nursery plastic pot over each small plant to hold in the ground warmth, before filling in with the pine straw that i had for mulch and covering with blankets . Temps went to a frosty 25 one night, too.

Hi All.I meant to come back yesterday and have a day pottering around home, but got a call from Renae to look after the girls as she was sick.Poor girl, leaning over a bucket while on the toilet. She spent the day here as Josh had gone to Brizzy for 2 days, and now the other twin has got it as well.
Not much sleep for anyone last night.
I am off to work shortly,so Greg will take over playing nurse.
The rain has arrived here now from the south, just drizzling, nothing like NSW.Its great that Victoria are getting some to fill the dams and rejuvenate the burnt bushland.

Good afternoon everyone! Ian did great in the surgery this morning. He has a huge bandage on his foot and has to keep it elevated. The pain medication seems to be working and he's not in too much discomfort. The tumor was the size of a pea and impeded and irritated the tendon that moved the toe. The dr. scraped it off pretty quickly and he said he removed some of the irritation from the tendon. Thanks for all your thoughts!

Great news, Stella! A pea sized tumor can cause a lot more problems than you'd expect. It sounds like they did a good job. How long do they think his recovery will be?

I must say that one of the nurses in the pre-op room was wonderful. She monitored Ian the whole time even though he just got medicine to make him sleepy because they put a block in his foot. She was very nice and it made all the difference as to how Ian handled it. He was very nervous and was shaking. He had to be there at 7am, but he wasn't brought into the operating room until just after 9:30. He was in the op room for only 20 minutes. We didn't get out of there until just before noon. They let Ian take his time waking up and moving. She gave him 2 extra pairs of the hospital slippers because he said they were so comfy.

Ian has to stay bandaged up until he goes back to the dr on the 15th. I don't know how they expect him to walk around at school with the big bandage. He has a little boot, but the toe and top of his foot where the surgery took place is not protected. I think it will be at least a month before he can do things. The other problem with the ball of his foot may impact his recovery. We'll just have to wait and see.

Ian is a bit of a hypochondriac and already thinks I should call the dr because his foot his numb. It's numb because he's had it propped up in the same position for hours without moving it. I can tell already that this is going to be a fun recovery process! lol

I had never heard of lean forward and wiggle!
Stella, Ian sounds like Ally. Any twinge and it's panic mode! It sounds like his foot is going to get filthy before the 15th.

Broni, I would not take any bets on my house being tidy. After the other day Ken's comment was a thief would be lucky to find anything in our house! I still have lots to do before next Friday...and I will also have my Melbourne family here before then and the DIL is a very tidy person!
Sharon once submitted a photo of Laura at my computer for the parents page and I cringe every time it comes up and it gets comments about the messy desk.

Didn't realise I hadn't mentioned it in here, have been arranging things via email. Realised last night that it's lucky we're heading north because we'll be travelling on a heavy traffic day. The standard pre-holiday conversation about staying home to avoid the holiday traffic came up and I thought, oh, that's right! Forgot about that....
