Good Mean Sudoluland!

Stella, I would not sign the consent form for Ian's surgery till I had some answers. It would not be informed consent, but I am sure you know that. But mentioning informed consent and patient bill of rights might get that doc there to talk to you before the surgery.

Oh so much to comment about and I have forgotten most of it already.

Hope the rains slack off where there is flooding, wish they could move where needed.

Tami, glad the trip was good, and only one minor incident.

BEAN, hope you have improved as your day went on today.

Stella, I still have residual problems from frozen shoulders about 20 years ago, and know what you mean about not being able to fasten seat belt.

More I meant to say, but must get to my list, check weather for today, make breakfast.

Hugs to all of you, I did read your comments, I did think of you when I read.

Had all sorts of excitement this morning. The heifer wouldn't load in the trailer for the longest time.... finally got her to the processor, only to discover that the processor wasn't processing because they didn't have any water. Fortunately, the buyer was there and was given the choice of leaving her there (maybe for 4 or 5 days while they hauled water from the creek for her), or to have me take her back home and bring her back once they had water. He elected to leave her there. They MIGHT have water tomorrow.
On the way home, I had to stop for mineral for the cows, so i also decided to stop for a crabapple tree (to replace one I lost in the ice storm) and some tomato plants. I also bought a bunch of strawberry plants. The veggie gardens are in raised beds in the yard. Raised high enough that I can garden without bending over, and the dogs can't get in. Boy, did Lucky want to help me plant those strawberries!!!!

I just won 15 turkeys on eggbid. They're all broad breasted, meaning they're meat birds only.... they cannot breed on their own. That means I'll fill our freezer with turkey, and give dressed turkeys away to neighbors and friends for the holidays. They'll be arriving next Tuesday or Wednesday. They'll just be hatched the day of shipping.

OH what a thing for newborns to have to do. I hope it is not a long trip for them. Broad breasted turkeys for the freezer sound wonderful. They will grow that much by the holidays? Just how big a freezer do you have? I know you put in Cornish hens, plan on or have put in beef, and now turkeys. You will be well stocked. Do you process and freeze lamb or mutton? Never eaten any myself. It is not a southern thing

Strawberry plants, yummy. good thing the doggies cannot get into those!

Good luck with the crabapple tree, hope it is big enough Lucky cannot dig that up and drag it off.

Still looking for storms, so far on history of tornadoes as they go across Mississippi. High straight line winds, lots of rain, thunder, but no tornadoes. I hope it stays that way!

I have been busy while looking. I made 2 kinds of sausage today, Italian and breakfast sausage. I am not yet happy with the breakfast sausage recipe, but the Italian was good. We had some with white beans for lunch today. Once I get my recipes to my liking, I will be making more.

The tree is 6 foot tall. Too big for Lucky (I hope).

We actually have 2 chest freezers. One is enormous..... we've put 3 whole steers in it before, all over 1,000 ibs. It should hold all the meat I can put in it.
I try to put my own lamb in, too, but IH sells the lambs before I can get them butchered for myself. I love a nice, juicy, Rack of lamb.

Well, I have learned something new today. I am now streaming video of my fav weather forecaster. they are not on TV full time yet, hope they are NOT today, as they only preempt TV if we have a tornado warning in the "viewing area". Only problem, I have not figured how to turn it OFF hehehe

Morning all!
Stella, I hope Ian's surgery goes well. I've had a few ops, and Ally has had 2. I thought one of my surgeons had told me everything I needed to know - until I woke up with parts of my head shaved, and until he met my husband and told him things he hadn't told me (how would a young girl understand this terribly difficult medical stuff?). He was a brilliant surgeon. The problem was that my surgery was routine for him. I saw him with a much more interesting case and he was a different person. I hope that is what is going on with Ian's surgery - it's routine and easy peasy!!!

Stella again, your frozen shoulder has all of my sympathy. After watching Ally with a frozen (by a cast) elbow and wrist, I know it was only the fact that she could move her shoulder that kept her independent at all. I hope that is eventually sorted out.

We're lamb eaters down this way. I remember when I first met hubby my friend cooked a baked/roast leg of lamb. Hubby had never had lamb before, and fell in love with it. We used to add a touch of cinnamon to the lamb when we ate it in the US, something about the different diet (of the lambs) changed the taste from what we were used to. The cinnamon fixed it, which I thought was strange. I would NEVER have thought to add cinnamon to lamb.

MizT, I'm wondering if you will be able to predict the weather without help from the forecasters soon... I hope the latest is the type that doesn't leave you miserable!

SUZY, nope, I still need the forecasters, but I do watch with interest and some degree of understanding. I am surprised, so far, this storm has not caused a flare. I hope it stays that way. Thanks for asking.

I will be going to dome later when this storm front comes through. It has a history of tree damage and such from straight line winds, I would prefer to be in the dome if any trees are going to fall.

Severe T storm warnings are walking their way closer, still a couple of counties west of me.

Good Morning SA8.
Rain has eased a little and moved a bit North, they had to close the container port down yesterday due to the high winds.
Heidi, you brought back memories of my Dad making crap apple jelly from our tree.
Zusy, another way for lamb is to insert anchovies into the meat, they dissolve while cooking and leave a wonderful flavour.
Stay safe MizT.

I can't say empty house today - hubby is home all day. That means I won't get to drop in as often as usual - maybe.

Morning Broni. Anchovies? That's another 'I never would have thought to do that' thingame.

Suzy.... the breed of sheep has an influence on the flavor, as well as the age. My sheep are my own mix of Hair Sheep (in contrast to Wool Sheep) and have a mild, delicate flavor. No lanolin taste that I've experienced with some of the wool breeds. They're also heavily marbled, so the meat is very tender and juicy.

YEAH, the storm system fizzled out in our area. there were some tornado warnings north of us. i did not see if there was storm damage. I did visit Al in the dome for about half an hour. A non storm makes me right happy! I can sleep in my bed tonight.

We're in the middle of a right nice thunder-boomer now. It's coming down in buckets. I'm so glad I've already planted the crabapple, strawberries and tomatoes, 'cause Mother nature is giving them all a deep watering for me.

Good evening everyone. Never did get back yesterday, I had a chat with Rolanda and then fell asleep. Kids are getting a little crazy at school. Tomorrow is the last day and then we all get a week off. My friend is in transit from Utah. She arrives tonight. Her plane is already late. She will take taxi to her aunt's house and I will see her friday.

Good morning lovely SA8 people.
Stella - for Ian's op and yes, ask the doc for further information. Maybe it is just routine for him but it's not for Ian. I hope you get some relief for your shoulder sooner rather than later. All the best to the 'walking wounded' of the Stella family.

I don't think she knows Mariana. I am going to try to introduce them while she is in town. Mariana is in Salt Lake City and my friend is about 45 min. outside SLC. My friend does not drive so it is hard for her to get around. I just checked on her flight. She was supposed to land at 8:58pm. Flight is delayed and now due to land at 10:47.

They just changed the time again. She is now landing at 10:54 pm. Her aunt was supposed to pick her up but she is going to take a taxi. If I didn't have to get up early for work, I would have picked her up.

Hi everyone! Just reading all the news -
Gail, those hills round your place must give you one hell of a workout! I always find the hardest thing about exercise is ... well, actually doing it!
Hi Mary, welcome back!
June, sorry you lost your camera, but glad most things were ok. Hope you're over your hives by now - I know how horrible they are!
Stella, best wishes for Ian's surgery - hoping for the best possible outcome. Your shoulder sounds so annoying and painful! I think I had something similar many years ago, and it was a nightmare - hope you get some relief somehow.
Heidi, you have SUCH a busy life! We're hoping to plant some more trees once the weather gets a bit cooler - just need to decide (ie - fight over) what we'll have!
Suzy, all your talk about food is making me hungry! When we were growing up lamb was the most common meat we ate - beef was for Sunday roasts, steak was a very occasional treat. Now lamb is so expensive that we feel quite decadent when we have chops for tea! Oh, and chicken was for special occasions, and always a roast - no way would you buy it already cut up!

We have rain! REAL rain, with thunder and lightning, darkness at noon, puddles on the ground - the whole two bob! I went outside to look at my little plants that looked so sad yesterday - they're a lot happier today! And I have to admit I splashed through a few puddles with my little bare feet! Yippeee!
Um, hope it knows when to stop ...
