Wow...SA7'ers....You are a loquacious bunch...but you already know that, as well as show that....
I have good news....My new computer has arrived all shinny and bright...now I must contain myself until my adopted son( actually a lifelong friend of my son, who lives near me, and has been considered one of my children for many years)to find some free time on his very busy schedule to set it up and get my old information from this puter. I should be up and running at least in the near future...something for me to shout about!!!!

Now, The sad things caused me to do a little reflecting too, and I hope I am not renewing the sad feelings, but I seem to have to share this and hope its expression is not misunderstood.
So often we learn of horrible things during important holiday seasons...it seems as if many feel as I use to...nothing bad should happen when people are having fun celebrations. Everyone should only be focused on the joy.
As a youngster, I felt that no one should be allowed to get hurt, be sick or die on my birthday, for example.
I matured and realized that life goes on Every day, regardless of what that day means to an individual, people get sick, hurt and die, often in horrible ways......And surprise, surprise...not every one is filled with joy....the most important holidays are some of the darkest, most depressing, most difficult days for far too many people.
For those of us who are remembering friends or loved ones who are no longer with us to share our joy, we hold fast to memory of times past...It is my belief that until all who have memory of a person are dead, part of that person remains in hearts...thats a good thing.
I commiserate with all who are in that position...but I ask all of you, to spare a kind word, a smile, a thought and a prayer for those who are not as fortunate as we...
I know this will be done, and is a fairly common practice it seems, but if you can spare a few hours in a homeless shelter or hospital, pack away clothing for those in need, drop a little money for those in need, the day will be much brighter for many....Peace!

Good day Broni...get back when you can.
Mama - I thank you for the reminder to make this a holiday of the kind of giving that truly makes a difference in people's lives. I'm pretty sure from what I know of the people on SA that this is a common practice for most of us.

Mamacita I think you said it well. My heart is full of people no longer physically with me - they will be with me as long as I am living!
One thing I do is buy at least one ticket in every fund raising raffle I come across - which is a lot at this time of year - every street corner almost. There are so many deserving charities and not enough money to go around. I have to admit to a twinge sometimes when the prizes are truly awful and I really don't win them, but I always risk it anyway.

Vici I agree that this is a very giving group...but sometimes we forget in our frantic efforts to get ever thing done....the Christmas stories on easy yesterday very pointedly made clear that giving from the heart whatever one could share was memoriable...thus I was moved to make the last comment....
As for my idea....according to Suzy..it was my idea for her compostion...Not....it was already in her mind based on her ouchy tallies and comments...lol!

The 12 days of christmas Vici..
It is raining here. A good day to stay home and get ffuts done. I really really really don't want to go into town today. It's Thursday, pay day for many people, and town turns into a zoo - especially at this time of year.

AH-HA! Mama - so you are the brain-trust behind the SA Christmas Carol! and a very clever idea indeed...really put a smile on my face.
The most memorable Christmases I've had are not the ones I spent with my family (well, some of them when I was little), but the ones I spent volunteering. I remember the first time I did that (volunteered in a convalescent home...we sang carols and passed out gifts and visited with the people) - I felt as though I was the one who got the most wonderful Christmas gift ever!

I'll finish reading posts in a bit..... it's been a busy day for me. Had 6 of the pheasants arrive at my Post Office at 6:15 am. I am not a morning person. The 2 hens I won a few days ago arrived at the Post Office at the County seat at 10:00 am. I had to go look at some hay to buy (bought $3000 worth), bought a christmas tree and 3 bushes for the pheasants. A cat walked into the yard and got attacked by the collies (needed rescuing and patching), planted the bushes, fed hay to my cows, and now I'm out the door to feed hay to my neighbor's steers.

Good morning everyone.
Sorry to hear that many are sad,but glad many are happy.
Yesterday at work we had time to sit with a few and chat about old times with some residents.
One lady talked about her making steamed pudding in calico, how they had a water drip cooler (no electricity or fridge)the kids making decorations for the pine tree they cut down. etc.
It was a lovely shift...this lady was very agitated when we started but changed completely after that.It made my day to be able to brighten hers.Very rarely do we have the time to sit and talk for very long.
Well,I am off to do the mowing before it gets any hotter.Have a good day all.
