Mariana... I used to live not far from the Princeton campus. It is a gorgeous area and lovely town.... and this from a person who does not like cities and towns. I really wish Benny luck. Just going there will open all sorts of doors for him.

I hope you remembered to feed yourself tonight, Heidi! And now, as CRAFT's disease has wiped all my other comments from my mind, I really am heading to bed. Good day/afternoon/night, Everyone!

Susan - I did post just below where CP wished me a happy b'day...said it wasn't my b'day but could understand the mix-up. That kind of thing happens to me on a daily basis!
Sorry I didn't get back to you about the mix up...was at my book club.
Thanks Bean and Rolanda for clearing it up when I wasn't here.

Afternoon all - back from visiting Mum - all went OK- but da*n it's warm out there. Air Con is on and after checking on what's happening here, I'm off to start reading. Went to the library and got some lovely crime/mystery novels as well as Mariane Pearl's A Mighty Heart - have not seen the film yet. I like to read the book first if possible - of course, then I never like the movie.

Cyn, I know what you mean about books and movies. The books are always better! I felt very smug the first time Ebob said that... I like crime/mystery novels too Cyn, plus the occasional thriller and a lot of scifi. I just started rereading Lord of the Rings for the Umpteenth time. The next book on the list is a Kathy Reichs book, then Narnia. Oh, and Ebob was given a Tara Moss book for Xmas and I will read that too. In fact I probably should read that first as Ebob found chapter 5 a bit disturbing and would probably like to talk about it.

Just checked Broni, the warning doesn't mention Redlands yet but the radar looks ominous and it's dark and gusty outside at only 3.30pm - not good!
Suzy - I've never read a Tara Moss book, is she any good? I like British crime/mystery writers like Peter Robinson.

Night Heidi -
Susan - congrats to your daughter for her good report card - my older 4 grandies have all got their reports in the last few days, 3 of them have got all A's and 1 B in PE (we are not a sporty family). The other one's schooling has been slightly affected by the epilepsy but she still got mostly A's and B's. All 4 of them got A's in music. I love music but if they've got any talent in that department it's not from me.

Tara Moss books are a touch dark Cyn, at least I think so, it's been a while since I read one. Sort of mystery...
Broni and Cyn, hope it's not a big one... storm I mean.

Mak has arrived in Australia on assignment from her native Canada, but the catwalks and catfights of her modelling world are soon overshadowed. In attempting to find her friend's killer she meets detective Andy Flynn and becomes caught up in the hunt for the perpetrator of the Stiletto Murders - the most violent signature killings Australia has ever seen. But how far can she trust the cynical policeman?

Thanks Suzy and CynB. Son #2 is picking up his now. He told me not to expect anything near hers. I only ask that they do their best. I don't expect brilliance. S1 and D were born with academic ability, BUT, they also work hard. S2 was born with athletic ability, but does not do his best at school. D has just finished her first year of high school. Here comes S2, wait for it.....

OK, one A, average C. I'm disappointed in the effort or lack of it. Son is disapointed in my disappointment. He says he was expecting better results based on assignment results. Will have to change some stuff next year. More jelly nailing to the tree.
Suzy, do you find it frustrating though thinking what they could achieve with effort?

Incredibly so Susan! If they were average students getting average results I would be pleased as punch. I very rarely see an A on a report card. Well, not since they changed the definition of an A anyway. I saw them before then.

And that's another thing!
Why can't an 'A' be an 'A' anymore?
I hate the way they change the reports format every second year! So what if the kid doesn't like to see a fail on their report card...if that's what they got for their lack of effort, then so be it.

Susan, since they changed the definitions of the grades, we are told C means they are where they are supposed to be, meeting all of the course requirements. I was told that an A in primary school meant they were about a year ahead of the requirements. Since they are only taught the requirements I wondered how anyone in primary school could get an A...

Gail, I read one US educational area, there is now an H grade - held. Students then can do extra work, summer school or whatever and only get a fail if they refuse to do the work or just can't after as many attempts as are available.
