Hi June, Celia is getting along well. she is managing most things for herself, but still gets a little confused trying to do certain things. I'm sure this will get better as time goes by.
When I took Richard to the station and my daughter to school this morning the temperature was 2F and it was rather frosty. According to the forecast it isn't going to be any warmer than 6F and supposed to rain, but at the moment it is quite bright.

Hi Lizzy and Brenda and June!
I am delighted that you got to see the smilie face, Lizzy! It is awesome to think that we all see the same moon and stars (or most of the same stars) It makes the planet seem that much smaller.

CynB... Great news! And in time for the holidays as well!
Brenda... good news about Celia. She seems like a strong minded lady.

Couldn't sleep. Woke up heavily congested. Took some decongestant and am waiting for it to take effect.

Later today, AFTER the calves have left, I will tell the story of why a believed in Santa Claus for so much longer than other kids. I still believe in Santa as a spirit of kindness, love and generosity, but I'm talking about the jolly guy in a red suit riding in a sleigh pulled by 8 reindeer.

The sky cleared slightly so did see the smiley face through the haze. Not clear and bright though. Saw Jupiter a couple of times but mainly just the moon and Venus. Tried to take a photo a couple of times when it also had a very bright nose as a plane on the flight path went across.
I did get one photo where you can just make out the 'mouth and two eyes' but not distict enough to post on my page!

I had mine on night shots and the one I got was on 10x zoom. But the sky was cloudy and even the moon kept being covered with cloud. Very hazy. I had meant to take my tripod but did not really expect to see anything much.

Nite Viv.
Liz I did put the photo on my page. That is about what the moon looked like and you have to look very hard to see Jupiter, just above half way on RHS. We did see it a bit clearer once but by the time we stopped the car it was not as clear.

Good morning all! There's a dusting of snow on the ground! Taking the last one, Bryana, back to school today. Hubby has tempted me by saying that he could drive her after work since she doesn't have to be back until 7:30. He just drove to Boston yesterday and the holiday traffic was bad. It wouldn't be fair to make him do it all over again, would it?

Bryana wrote a book and submitted it for publication yesterday. She and her friend entered this contest. They both wrote 150 pages and submitted the book as a two part story. They had to do it that way because the contest didn't accept coauthors. If the get it published, they'll combine it into one story. I can't believe she wrote that many pages. I haven't read it but it sounds interesting.

Stella - how wonderful for Bryana and her friend! I can't imagine writing a book, and I am very impressed!
Heidi - hope your congestion clears soon...too much going on to top it off with a head cold.
June - thanks for posting the picture - I loved seeing it and would have missed it.
Lizzy - Sorry the sky didn't cooperate with your timing...I have to say, that is exactly how it would have happened for me!

Morning all!

No smilie face for me last night - just a blanket of grey clouds. June, it's not the first time for me either - the clouds on a night I want to see the starts I mean. I checked it out on Sunday night and saw the planets and moon near each other and was looking forward to seeing the face. Sigh.

We have had about 6 inches of snow since it started snowing yesterday. It's supposed to slow to flurries by this afternoon.

We couldn't see through the snow and clouds last night, though I read we are also supposed to get the smilie face in the northern hemisphere. IF the snow stops and the sky clears, we'll see what we can see tonight.

Brenda, I think there ought to be a law that when the temperature is 2F noone has to leave their home! I'm imagining a cartoon like slowing from a brisk walk through stiff, stilted movement until you finally freeze solid with your hand reaching out to the car door....
