I just got an update on my MIL. Gil and the rest of the family had a long talk with the doctors and nurses, as well as my MIL. She's going through congestive heart failure. They say she can pass away anywhere from a few hours from now to a week at the most. She says she wants to go, and does not want any attempts at reviving her or extending her life. Gil has completely broken down. He's having to face the hardest thing he's ever gone through. He'll be staying with her for the duration.

Good Morning SA8
Yes, I pick up Keith and Lynne at midday today and will take them to King George Square then over the river to Southbank and meet up with CynB and Col.
Party is tomorrow and am planning a messenger and Skype hook up around 1 to 1:30pm Sudoku time.
Heidi, hoping for the best possible outcome for your MIL and Gil.
Off and running now. Catch you all later.

Nola, Sorry about your little dog. I understand what it is like. All our pets go under the grapefruit tree and when we moved here I planted a grapefruit tree. (although I think it is just the cockies who eat the grapefriut!!!)

Heidi darling, I am just about in tears here reading about your dear MIL. This is the same way my mother passed, and it was slow and sad to see. For Gil's sake, I am so pleased he is able to spend this precious time with her. We had to make these same decisions. She is in the right place and I hope they treat her like a queen the same way the staff treated my mother. Tell Gil he will find a strength he didn't know he had.
Loving thoughts to you all.

I washed it out immediately, and used two different antiseptic/antibiotic ointments. It's actually looking pretty good, tho' one of the punctures was really deep.
And Lady was NOT sorry.

Hubby and I got to meet Keith and Lynne in Cairns last night. It was just like being with old friends. It was just a pity that with me working the whole time they were in Cairns that we didnt have more time.

Afternoon all!
Fridge, freezer and pantry restocked, coffee with friends enjoyed, ice removed from the freezer, time for a break - and where better to go for that.

Hi Susan! Long time no see. Sounds like you had a fun time.

Heidi, I'm so glad Gil and his family are sensible. It wasn't like that with my MIL.

My wonderful Mother-In-Law passed away quietly in her sleep a half hour ago. Gil was sitting with her. He's taking it pretty well. I'm so glad he had some quality time with her during the last 20 hours.

He really does. I insisted that he rush up there, non-stop. He was first planning on going the next morning after hearing from his sister, then after I told him to leave right away, going part way, then stopping for the night. He got to spend her final 20 hours with her... she was lucid to the end, and they did a lot of talking. She actually helped him accept her passing by letting him know that she was ready to go, and letting him know all of her wishes. I was able to relay messages to her through him as well. I let her know how much I loved her, and she told Gil that she thought of me more more like a daughter than a daughter-in-law.
