MizT, maybe you could get Al to build you a mini dome that you could use for your closet.

Stella, A mini dome would make a good closet, but attaching it to our mobile home now would be a bit tricky. If we ever get into our someday house, I will have a lovely walk in closet, twice as much hanging as now, plus 6 feet of floor to ceiling shelves. The closet is already framed in, I have bought some modular shelving with drawers and cubbies for it. There will be a winter section and a summer section, divided by my long hanging section (I mostly have pants and tops, not many dresses), so all I will have to do at change of season is walk to the correct section of the closet. Someday.

That sounds like a fantastic closet, MizT. Is there a time frame on the completion of your house? My niece is going to build a house in Panama on her husbands chocolate farm. I told her she should build a dome house. She thinks it would be too expensive to ship it there. She is researching some sort of earth bag house. I think she is leaving this summer to go down there and start it.

Well, I should be off to do a million things. Then, I may go down to Albany to see if I can see any more of the filming. There's only a couple of days left and it is supposed to rain tomorrow. It would be nice to see all of the tulips in Albany before they're all gone. The city is covered in them for the tulip festival but the hot weather has done a number on them. Have a great day!

Hello, Everyone. Whoopee, I made it here before noon, our time! I think it's been a while since Suzanne posted.

Heidi, I hope you are feeling better, or visiting the doctor as I type this.

Stella, good luck seeing some of the filming AND the tulips!

MizT, we hope your someday house with it's wonderful all-seasons closet will happen sooner, rather than later.

I hope all the DUGs are having a good sleep.

Hopefully some of our friends who we haven't seen here in a while will be back for a visit soon.

Aha! As I suspected - a long time (3 hours) between posts. Life certainly has a way of intervening in our fun here.

Now, off to do some much-needed krow and ffuts.

Hello, all. This is looking like one day. Gil's mother is in the hospital, she's been there for 5 days now, but it looks like her body is shutting down. He'll have to rush up there (8 hour drive) later today. I've been closer to her than my own mother.

OH HEIDI, I am so sorry to hear about your MIL's health problems. How old is she? I hope she gets better if that is possible, if not that the end is peaceful and pain free. I imagine you want to go, but with your own illness, just not to be. thinking of you and your family sweetie. Hope you are getting better yourself.

She's 85 years old. She survived lung cancer 12 years ago. She developed COPD after that, and has been on oxygen and nebulizers since then. This last problem has been pneumonia. Her lungs aren't strong enough. Her heart is now enclosed in fluid and barely working. Gil's sister is with her, and says she's failing fast.
The strange thing is that I lost my grandmother on Derby day, one hour after Barbaro won the Derby. It looks like my MIL may be passing on either Oaks or Derby day.

4 of us visited Maryborough yesterday,we went to the markets and brought home some lovely fresh fruit and veg.Even though you can get it all here it was a nice days outing, and we had lunch at the RSL Club.
Maryborough is the birth town of the woman who wrote Mary Poppins. They still have some beautiful heritage buildings and old Queenslander homes.
It was an enjoyable day.

It's not so much my health, as somebody has to be here for the animals at all times. But I'm not up to traveling, either.

How is your hubby's shoulder? If it continues to bother him get him to the Doc. The shot he gave me did wonders. I would say that the pain is 95% gone. Keep me posted.

The Gouldian eggs have not hatched yet. I got a good look at them yesterday, and only one looks fertile. I'm not sure what day they started brooding, but I think it was less than 14 days ago. The incubation time is 14 to 16 days.

Morning all!

Heidi, so sorry to hear about your MIL. Thinking of you and Gil.

Bobbi, the only reason I know about hubby's shoulder is because he stopped working out while Ebob was doing baseball practice. I think I will search the medicine cupboard for the left over stuff from last time. That might get him there.

MizT, I want your someday closet! It sounds wonderful.

Nola, now I have to google to complete my fact for the day. I have always assumed that Mary Poppins was written in England, but based on your post I was wrong.

Well, there you to, it was written in England. She apparently moved there when she was about 25. I learn something new every day...

Good afternoon everyone.
Heidi, get thee to a doctor. There is too much nasty stuff going around. Also, I am sorry to hear your MIL is not doing well. I will be keeping her in my thoughts.

I will be back later. Just stopped by for a minute to check mail. Gotta fling food and grade papers. A teachers day is never done.

It must be the day for doom and gloom.
I just had my malteze put to sleep, she was 14yrs 3mths and 3 days old.Have cried buckets of tears even though I know it was the best thing to do.I thought she would have gone months ago and was trying to prepare myself but her old heart kept ticking when her body was falling apart, and it is still heartbreaking when the end comes. RIP Meg

Good morning lovely SA8 people - although it is not a GM for many of you.
Heidi - thinking of you and Gil. If she has to go, I hope she goes peacefully.
Nola - RIP Meg. Many of us know the sorrow of losing a loved pet. She's waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.
And a year since our little bluebird Lynda passed away - oh dear. Thanks Rolanda for the reminder.

Being a Queenslander, you would think I would have known that a town that has a Mary Poppins Festival must have connections to the book or the author. And I have (unfortunately) spent a lot of time there over the years.
I say unfortunately because, other than some of the wonderful old heritage buildings, I doubt the town has much more to offer.

I will be back later to stop and chat but hubby wants to go out to buy some such thing and we will be getting lunch while we are out. Only something very light, I spent yesterday in bed...must be in sympathy with Heidi!
Just briefly though, as I haven't read everything properly, Heidi, so very sorry to hear about your MIL, I feel your pain, and Nola, you are in my thoughts too, furry friends are family too.

Thinking of you Nola. It is hard to lose a pet. They truly are a member of the family, usually the best member. Pets love unconditionally.

Oh Nola... how sad. You did the right thing to prevent further suffering. The right thing can often be the hardest, though.

Speaking of suffering, my MIL is not. The last report I heard is that she's comfortable. Gil should be arriving at the hospital in about 3 hours..... I convinced him to drive straight through instead of stopping for the night part way. I know he wouldn't forgive himself if he wasn't with her to say goodbye. He's the eldest of the 4 siblings, and very close to his mother.
