Heidi, I have also emailed back and forth with Ian. He gave me advice on how to resize pictures. He seems like a nice man.

Heidi..I didn't want to celebrate any of the 1sts either after my Mum died.We miss them SO much that it hurts deep inside.Try to think of happy times together and smile about them.
Our family now laugh at the antics of Mum and Dad,they are still fresh in our minds 8 yrs later.
Usually they needed to go and would not want you to be sad.

You too Nola!
It is sprinkling and I am feeling very pleased with myself for getting the horses fed early - now I don't have to get wet! I've started myself a Mothers Day fire and think I will go and enjoy it - after I do a puzzle or two....

A lot of the bike clubs around here do benefit rides. They charge each person a set amount to join in the ride.... usually a significant distance on very scenic routes. The funds raised go 100% to a charity. They raise a lot of money.
I regularly see 100- 250 bikes drive past our farm on these rides. The biggest I've seen was over 500.

Hello everyone. I hope you are all fine. Life is keeping me busy. Our fence is built and I think we have the happiest dogs in the world. Now they spend most of the day outside. No more running around the house. I have built a fire pit inside the fence and have a lot to clean up. We have a large area fenced in and part of it was a garden several years ago. Now it is just weeds. There were lots of burr plants also, not good for dogs to run through. So much to do, so little time.

NOLA, At least Heidi knows her chicken for dinner is fresh.
Fireplaces, Had one, never used it after the "new" wore off, except for one blizzard caused extended power outage. I was happy to have it then, even if it was a 2 man job keeping it fed. I think I would like a gas fireplace.
Heidi, we had a really big Bike Club drive past our house when we lived on the farm. It took a long time for all of them to pass, but I could not begin to estimate how many there were.
Time to fling food. I read all the comments and had things to say, but I have a hungry hubby who has been working with the weed eater, whipper snipper. He needs refueling.

Yes Heidi and Tami, Ian is a very sweet man (though I imagine him shuddering to think of himself that way), and I adore his wife Anne.

Rena.... if you really want to make the dogs happy, put in a dog door. They can let themselves in and out when they want, and you aren't their doorman.

MizTricia: I read what you said about the fireplace. I still want one though, especially when (not IF) we move to Washington State. We're going up there in July to take a SERIOUS look at property. Called my nephew Bret today (his 25th birthday, where does the time go!!!???)

Heidi, living in Florida is no place for a fireplace. When Mitchell and I stayed with a friend in Atlanta, we slept in a finished basement with the fireplace on.

In the summer of '07 we spent a week in Colorado. I had maintenance light the pilot light in the fireplace. We made hot chocolate and sat in front of the fireplace and pretended it was winter. Above the fireplace was a window with a great view of the mountains. Maintenance thought I was nuts until I explained that we lived in south Florida and the kids wanted to pretend it was winter and snowing. We all had fun.

A fireplace is lovely but a lot of hard work.
Thank heavens my hubby and son now get to go bush to collect the wood, although sometimes I go with them. They cut it, stack it, and set it up etc.
It is an inbuilt one, a Norseman.
We also have the old wood stove outside and by the time winter is over, I am over it.
Have to say it is nice to sit by though. Very cosy.

VV: she isnt home yet, my mum, she arrives tonight (11.25pm).
While away she hasnt been too good, quite ill in fact, (Found this out a couple of weeks ago), she is well and truely ready to come home!
We (Hubby and I) were willing to pay the extra costs to change her flight to come home earlier, but being the stubbon woman that she is, She decided to stay.
She has Specialist Appt on Wednesday, to which I will take her to. Was planning on bringing her home to my place in the wee hours, but she has the 'blood people' coming sometime tomorrow to take blood for testing, for the Specialist.

a Fireplace ??
We have gas heaters that we plug into the gas bayonet. Lives in the Shed during the Warmer Weather, still to be brought out for the coming Winter.
It is starting to get cool in the evenings now, so it wont be long and I will nag my Hubby to get it out and plug it in!!
Especially now that mum will be back and staying the nights on Tuesdays !!

It has just started to rain here. I have had a nice relaxing day so far for Mothers Day and this arvo going over to SIL.
I have nearly finished knitting a cushion cover for the outdoor couch. I cannot find wooden buttons big enough here so have just sent an enquiry to someone through E-bay.
