Hi Rolanda, hope your mother is well and enjoyed her trip to Holland even though she wasn't in the best of health. It doesn't seem 5 minutes since she went away, again this year is flying past, it will soon be your turn to go away on your trip to China.

Rola...don't go making too many plans until I've sorted out the plan of attack...I will eventually post some dates when she will definitely be in town... at this stage it is for Halloween. I'll let you know if that is making it too difficult to fit in other ideas.

Found out at the end of last week that Richard has to go to South Africa on business. He will be going away on Tuesday evening and will be back in the early hours of Saturday morning. Trouble is he will spend 2 dys travelling and the other two days he will be in meetings so doubt he will get to see anything.
We had SA on our list of places to visit in the years to come, but it is very expensive to get there so would have been one of the last places on the list.

Bean it sounds as if you are going to have fun later this year. You will have to make sure that you have a web camera set up so we can all share.

It's been raining again, but not heavily. It has to stop some time so I can mow the lawn. It's almost long enough to cut for hay! Well, maybe not THAT long, but it's pretty shaggy looking. If I try mowing it now, I'll leave deep muddy tracks all over.

Good Morning Heidi and anyone else still around!
Wish you could drive your tractor over to my place and get my overgrown lawn when you are done with yours, Heidi. Hope the rain leaves a window for you to mow.
Need another cup - brb!

Good morning all! Busy weekend. Friday, picked up Bryana. Her softball game was cancelled due to the swine flu, so I will have to go another time to see a game. Dragged everyone out of bed first thing Saturday morning to go see the first showing of the day for...."Star Trek" at IMAX down in Albany. (Another Trekkie!) Got everyone out by 8:30am. Bryana was a good sport considering that is the only Saturday she didn't have to get up for classes. We loved it! We didn't go to the Tulip Festival because Bryana's shoes gave her blisters. We went out to lunch and then shopping for sneakers for Bryana and other stuff.

THANK GOODNESS the cat's out of the bag!
I was about to bust a gut with excitement wanting to share my surprising news - surprising to me, too, as I didn't expect to get down-under for about 3 more years. 2 years to finish our building project and then a year to save the money to go as Mike and I would have lint filled pockets at that point.

Mike asked me about 3 weeks ago (when Bean and I were trying to figure out a place to meet half way that was affordable - NOT!) "Why don't you just go to Australia?" My reply, "Beacuse I thought we were going together". Then he informs me that he doesn't know if he could really stand the flight down and back. Before he could finish his thoughts I was out of the room, on the computer looking up flights - Ha-ha!

Hubby made a Mother's Day dinner on Saturday and then Bryana had me watch a movie with her until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. Early Sunday morning, 7:30am, hubby took me down to Albany to see the tulips. It was quite cold and windy(Saturday was sunny and warm) and the thunder storms we got on Saturday night did some damage, but I got to see the pretty tulips and take pictures. We went to church and hubby took Bryana back to school afterward. He left at noon and didn't get home until 10pm! He had to also move Meghan out of her dorm room. (She stayed at school) Between half the stuff I picked up from Bryana's room and Meghan's room, it fills up half the garage. I don't know where we're going to put it in the house! I get Brendan's stuff on Wednesday.

The best part is now I have a kitty sitter lined up for Panda - which was one of my biggest concerns. Jackpot!
Now to get an International driver's license. No worries, Bean - if they let me drive a huge ladder truck and fire engines, I imagine I can pass the test to drive on the wrong side of the road!

Hi Vici! Can I come with you? I didn't know you needed an international license. When my sister and I went to Ireland, we didn't have a special license.

Hey - maybe I don't! That would be good news. You can come with, Stella, if you can get down to 40lbs by the time I leave. I'll put you in my second bag (50lb limit/bag and it weighs close to 10lbs by itself!)

Vici. I'd love to go with you. But it's a LOT harder finding a sitter for my crew than it is for Panda. I don't trust IH with them.... every time I go anywhere, I come home to dead animals.... THAT HE HASN'T NOTICED!!! He forgets to water some, and feed others. Even though he insists on me writing down very detailed instructions. It causes way too much stress to go anywhere.

Heidi - can't EVEN imagine what it would take to get away from your gang. Loving animals the way you do, I couldn't leave without a very trustworthy guardian. I will be taking my laptop and webcam, so I am hoping for to bring you guys with me - especially for the Halloween party...but you must Skype in costume! Ha-ha!

Vici, I'm sure my brother doesn't get an international licence when he goes over to his daughter in Oz. I know when we go to Canada we just use our British licence when we hire cars over there.
How long is your holiday going to be?

Vici, have you bought your tickets? If that halloween party in the middle is causing problems, could you juggle the dates? Poor Beanie Baby is trying to stuff in as much as she can in such a short time. You just need to STAY LONGER!

Lots of ffuts to do today, have already been busy. did the slidy thing on some quilt parts and Al's shirts. I have a UFO (UnFinished Object) up on the quilt wall, next is add borders, and borders needed that slidy thing. I told you, I use the hot slidy thing much more for my sewing that I ever do on our clothing.
I have emptied dishwasher, sorted bills and ready to write checks, Oh, that is right, I came to computer to check bank balance hehehe.
Best get back to it, must run errands later.
Can you people tell I am feeling better? something we changed is doing some good, hope it lasts!

Have already purchased the tickets MzT - 3 weeks worth of visit...I'm sure 8 weeks wouldn't even feel like enough, but need to get back home to give Mike a hand. He'll be ocntinuing the building while I'm away (along with his kitty sitting duties)
Thanks for the info, Brenda - I will check into it and hope you are right! Off for massive yard work (trenching for water system) - better take my back meds first!

Good Morning, Everyone! Just a quick pop-in before ffuts and a trip back & forth to my sister for haircuts for hubby & me. (It's grammatically right . . . for me.) Four and a half to five hours to get haircuts. Well, we get to visit and have dinner together, too.
Have a great day, All! If I get back later, it will be MUCH later!

Morning all!
Vici, I'm pretty sure we drove here on our US drivers licenses. I'm due to go to the RTA early next week so will ask while I am there - if I remember. I have a memory like a sieve these days.
Stella, it was you with the half full garage wasn't it? Is that only temporary?

Brenda, what a bummer that Richard is getting to go to South Africa and won't get a chance to see anything! I hope he finds a way to add a day onto the trip or something so that he can see a teeny tiny bit. It's such an exciting trip to get to do!!!

Okay, now for my big news. I start my last practicum on 22 May. At least I think that's the date. I'm going to the school I went to all of those years ago. It will be a challenge! I saw a Dominos pizza delivery and a boy climbing in a window as I arrived, and while I was in the staff room one of the teachers came in and swore her head off about the little sheethearts she had just taught. They keep chocolate in the staffroom for bad days.....

Brenda, where in South Africa is Richard going. We found the place fascinating, especially Cape Town.
Vici, I think the international licenses have gone out of date. We got one when we went to UK in '88 but do not get one for the places we have visited in recent years. But Bean should check about her insurance if you are driving her car. I know your regular licence is all you need for a hire car here. I think it has to be a photo licence though.

Great news Suzy. Then it will just be get your Dip Ed certificate and then start teaching. With my daughters as high school teachers I hear some stories about student behavior.

June, the good news is that the system seems to work. One of the girls from the upset teacher's classroom was put on scab duty - refused to do it so was sent to the head teacher, still refused so was sent to the deputy, next step principal. I'm not sure which one convinced her to comply, but she delivered a bag of papers to the staff room while I was there! Next time she might just do it to get it over and done with, and after that she might just figure that behaving in class in the first place might be the way to go - I can dream, it's allowed!
