Gail, I'm new to this fortnightly menu idea. So does that mean on one night you have baked potato for dinner at night?

June my cold is still in my head, no I am not imaginging it, nose blocked, headache and feeling tired. Last night I decided to have a soak in the bath, the steam helped a lot I could breath through my nose for a while afterwards.

Hi Susan, I think Gail plans out her menu for a fortnight in advance and then she knows what she has to buy when she does her fortnightly grocery shopping.
She probably adds things to the baked potato on that night, but she knows what she is going to cook.

Wish I could be so organised. I'm normally panicking an hour or so before I need to start cooking the meal about what on earth to cook that evening.

June, Hot honey lemon and whisky is supposed to be good but there is no way I could drink it. I cannot stand even the smell of whisky, which is a problem because guess what Richard's favourite tipple is? Yep Single malt whisky.

I thought I had heard most every way bananas could be served. The bananas on the grill is new to me. It started me thinking and that is bad. I know when peanut butter is heated, it becomes liquid, and of course so does the chocolate. Chocolate covered peanut butter is a Reese's cup ( candy), so it sounds like this would be a melted Reese's cup banana desert, I can go for that.

Segueing right over to bananas, As a teen, I would saute bananas and crushed pineapple in butter and have over toast for breakfast.

In a cook book with recipes from the late 40's early 50's, there was a "salad" recipe that was half a banana split long ways, smeared with peanut butter, resting in a nest of lettuce. I remember seeing that and thinking, adding lettuce was going a bit far hehehe.

Brenda, I understand your aversion to whisky, because I have such an aversion to burbon, Nasty smelling stuff, and tastes worse. Not sure which is worse, Burbon or Scotch, YUCK! But a nice Canadian blended I can manage, if mixed with diet cola, and that is Al's drink of choice.

I would actually prefer to sip on a shot of peach schnapps since I discovered that. Liquid peaches, did I ever tell you how much I like peaches? Anyone remember the page parties and me bringing a huge blender, peaches, ice and peach schnapps to make peach smoothies with a kick?

Hi Brenda and MizT - Just calling in to say hello before I go to bed.
This avatar is my offering for St Patricks Day. Not exactly a four-leaf clover but at least it's green.
See you in the morning.

Noone is counting posts, Suzy, so if you have something to say, say it. if there are items you really want to comment about, make your comments! If people here did not comment on interesting tidbits from others posts, then we would have a lot of empty time and nothing to read when we came back. Just be sure to make them interesting

I know some days I just cannot remember and combine all my comments on one post, and at that day it is too much trouble to try to have a read page and a write page and move back between the two. I have managed to loose a few posts like that, on a foggy brain day.

Ahhh, I just discovered something. If you already know this, well just count me as slow. I do not think I have read this on the board.

I am a pretty fast touch typist and I hate to slow down to add a smilie from the provided smilies page. Just gave this a try to see if it would work. If you type in the code that appears when you click on one of the smilies, the graphic comes through! I think that is soo neat! Now to learn all the codes hehe, Ok first a cheat sheet till I learn them.

I am soo easily entertained

a new skill I must relearn at my advanced age, the key stroke to find the [ ] , they are not much used and easily forgotten.

Just lovely, Tricia, thanks for asking! We have a storm coming in tonight...which is good as we still need more rain. I've been very busy cleaning up the winter debris from my yard all week and will be out there all day today.

Remember the 900 bulbs I planted this past fall? Well, mostly just the greens are sprouting right now, but my crocuses are flowering and it is so wonderful to see the bright purples and yellows start to show. Once more color blooms I will take some pictures and post them on my page.

Do you see any of your bulbs breaking ground in the garden yet?

We have rain today, it has rained gently all night and no end in sight at the moment.

How is Mikes hand coming along? Does he have to do exercises, or PT or something?

Hey - do you have to add the parenthesis to the key words for the smilies to come up?
Mikes hand is doing great - he doesn't even exercise it any more. The only thing that still isn't 100% is the strength - but that is coming back gradually.

SNAP AGAIN This is getting spooky Vici, That is twice.

Glad to hear Mikes hand is so much better, and the strength should increase as he uses it more. I imagine cabinet making would qualify as good PT for the hand! I am sure it gets a work out building those.

Going back to peanut butter. My kids like peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwiches. They are called Fluffer Nutters. Elvis was known for his love of fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. I eat almost everything but I do not eat bananas. It is a joke in my family because I don't even like to touch a banana.

Hubby is off today so we are taking the kids for a surprise outing. They think we are going to a movie, but plans changed last night. Some one gave hubby 4 tickets to a spring training baseball game which is about 20 minutes from our house. It happens that Mitchell's favorite team is playing. We are not telling them, just driving there. See you all later.

TAMI, what a nice surprise for the boys, I hope you have good weather for the game!

Ahhh, I had forgotten the marshmallow fluff with peanut butter. Have never tried that one, but I have heard of it. I think that would be too sweet for me.

Is anyone making a list of all the ways to eat peanut butter?

About peanut butter and Grape jam in the same jar, that product is still available here. although we do eat peanutbutter and jam sandwiches, we do not buy that product. I am capable of spreading peanut butter on one slice of bread and jam on the other. That said, I had a friend who would take out a bowl, and mix the 2 before making sandwiches for her children.

BTW, peanut butter sandwiches are a mother's fall back meal for toddlers and young children here. Maybe it is something you acquire a taste for early in life, much like the Aussies and Vegemite. The other two tried and true meals for the littles are macaroni and cheese or grilled cheese and tinned tomato soup.

Because of some children having a peanut allergy, peanut butter is now banned in schools here. Elder daughter would only take peanut butter sandwiches to school right through all her schooling.

MizT, I have to be interesting???? That means I can't post at all!!!!!
Dinner was loverly. We ate far too much. A confession, hope I don't shock you too much - I wore a dress! Later in the evening, when we stopped for a cup of coffee I ran into friends. I was SO embarrassed to be seen in a dress!

The crocus sound beautiful Vici. Nie to see you back.

Susan, re your query about the Baked Potatoes in my menu (perfect explanation BTW Brenda, thank you), we usually top the potatoes with an Hawaiian style top, but a bolognase topping is also on offer.
For the first one, it is ham, cheese, coleslaw, pineapple, beetroot and sour cream.
For the other one, bolognase sauce replaces the coleslaw, pineapple and beetroot.
