It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

I have just been looking for news on Natasha Richardson. She was critically injured in a skiing accident in Canada today. She has been flown to New York but they are not giving many details.

Funny for the day:
The husband had just finished reading a new book entitled, 'YOU CAN BE THE MAN OF YOUR HOUSE'. He stormed to his wife in the kitchen and
announced, 'From now on, you need to know that I am the man of this house and my word is Law. You will prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished eating my meal, you will serve me a sumptuous dessert.
After dinner, you are going to go upstairs with me and we will have the kind of sex that I want. Afterwards, you are going to draw me a bath so I can relax. You will wash my back and towel me dry and bring me my robe. Then, you will massage my feet and hands. Then tomorrow, guess who's going to dress me and comb my hair?
The wife replied, 'The
funeral director would be my first guess'.

Good one Judy...it is wonderful when our kids make us proud! Sounds like an interesting Pie Chart!
Have just read one of Lachies essay's with so many red ticks on it and GOOD scribbled here and there that it was hard to read. His teacher commented on his insight...so good to see that he is sharing it with others. I always knew it was there...from a little tacker... It brings me back to the perceived problems he thinks he has in English...he needs more confidence.
[it was shattered by a teacher in grade 3 who used to hold kids work up and ridicule it in class...he was so scared of it happening to him that developed severe writers block...he literally could not write and it has been a problem ever since...he preferred any punishment that she would mete out to being laughed at. It is frightening the lasting impressions that authority figures can have on the very young and impressionable.]

Bean, My 5th grade math teacher did that to me and made me hate math. My friends laugh now, as I am a math teacher.

Hey Bean, most of my son's essays came back with comments like "This boy will go far - the further, the better!" or "Did you even READ the question?" or "What the heck?!!" He actually wrote most of the spoken stuff in the show he's doing, and most of it is hilarious. But still, dance and comedy are definitely not a sure-fire money maker, and I think he'll spend more time in bunny suits than lighting up the silver screen. C'est la Vie!

Afternoon everyone! We're home! I think Ally's arm looks terrific, nowhere near as bad as I thought it could be. She however, is refusing to leave it uncovered and requesting a note so she can wear a long sleeve shirt to school tomorrow. It's unbearable for even her to see it! Basically it is a bit dirty, the hair is a little dark, it's skinny, and her hand won't move so it looks 'weird'.

Forgot - the doctor is very pleased with the xrays, but no contact sports for a couple of months, including running as she could fall and rebreak it. She should be swimming swimming and swimming to get her elbow and wrist moving again.

MizT - are you sure Al isn't pregnant - PB and pickles?????
Judy - what a great photo! I'd love to see the show, shame it is so far away. You never know, he could become a gazillionaire. There are some comedians who've made it huge. Takes a while though.

Suzy, Ally needs a note to wear a long sleeve shirt? Because it is not her uniform shirt?
Well, if Al is pregnant, it is not mine. I have been fixed!

MizTricia, some sobering thoughts running through my mind ... has Al been fooling around!! Will you help bring up his Love Child, or fling him savagely into the snow ... (I'm starting to cry now - poor Al!) Well, the wages of sin, and all that... Yes, yes, I know, I've watched WAY too many old movies! ;)

Suzy, he knows it and we know it! At least he's making an (almost) livable wage at the moment, hence the move to the "share-house". Wonder if he'll actually clean up his own mess ... Hah! I think he's still doing the Titanic show, which is fairly regular work, though I don't know what the pay is like. There are so many talented young people out there, all struggling to make a living - maybe we should bring back vaudeville!

Oops, the day has slipped away from me - past midnight now. Finally, my leprechaun gets to peek out at everyone, but just for 1 comment this year. I hope everyone had a wonderful day/afternoon/evening! The next few days are going to be even crazier than the last few, so may not have much time to post until next week. I hope all of you stay healthy and happy!

Still no-one around? You're all very quiet today! I started looking round the internet for the Bob Hudson song "Jonathan Livingston Budgerigar" - does anyone remember that? I have it on a record somewhere. I found Bob's big hit "The Newcastle Song" and I think it's still pretty funny, though maybe I'm just warped!
I should be shopping, so that we can eat tonight, but the computer has robbed me of all willpower. It does that sometimes. Oh well, I guess I should trot down the street to buy comestibles. Later, friends! :)

Hello lovely SA8 people - late here today.
Congrats to Ally for getting the cast off. Must feel more comfy even if she doesn't like the look of it.
Judy - Still laughing about Al's love child and the thought of MizT throwing him out into the snow. However my mother's second cousin, who would (now be in her mid70s) told her father she was pregnant, she wasn't married. he kicked her out and forbid her to ever 'darken his doorstep' again. Her mother had to sneak out to meet her. He died without ever forgiving for her 'sin'.

Went to see Mum today with Aunty Vi, which went well.
Got back to my car which I had to park on a wide footpath thingy because their visitors car-park is always filled with staff cars from the businesses around the hospital. It's rained that last 2 nights. Guess who got bogged? Guess who had to call hubby out? I've been driving over 40 years and NEVER got bogged. That hospital is going to get a nicely worded formal complaint from me. Not Happy, Jan.

Was just talking to Steve and he felt it down his way, and one of my friends mentioned it on Facebook too.
Was only minor, not sure where the epicentre was, but I could hear it too, like a deep rumble.

Hi Judy and CynB.
Decided yesterday and today to do some gardening.
This means buy some petunias, and some other pretty flowering things and stick in the ground.
Today decided to repot 4 hanging baskets.

Evening all!
MizT, yes, the uniform shirt is short sleeved and without a note she could be given a detention for being out of uniform. It's not as strict as private schools, but some teachers are very picky. I keep telling her she needs to wear short sleeves anyway as it will keep looking different to the other one until it gets some sun.
Cyn, I wouldn't be impressed about getting bogged either. The story about your mothers cousin was sad. In 'those days' there wouldn't have been any support either. Even married women who wanted to leave abusive husbands were often trapped. I hope the story had a happy ending for the cousin.
