Hello, All! I'm back to the land of computers and wanted to pop in to say Hi! As usual, there are too many pages to read, so will take a few days to hopefully get caught up. I hope you are all well!

GMo was talking about Sod's law on easy.
Sod's Law and its Corollaries
or
The Twelve Laws of Inaccurate Perception
SOD'S LAW, ALSO KNOWN AS MURPHY'S LAW. If anything can go wrong, it will.
O'TOOLE'S COMMENTARY ON MURPHY'S LAW. Murphy was an optimist.
THE FIRST COROLLARY TO SOD'S LAW. Anything that is to go wrong will do so at the worst possible moment.
THE UNSPEAKABLE LAW. As soon as you mention something, if it's good, it goes away; if it's bad, it happens.
NON-RECIPROCAL LAWS OF EXPECTATIONS. Negative expectations yield negative results. Positive expectations yield negative results.
HOWE'S LAW. Every man has a scheme which will not work.
ZYMURGY'S FIRST LAW OF EVOLVING SYSTEM DYNAMICS. Once you open a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is to use a larger can.
SKINNER'S CONSTANT. The quantity which must be multiplied by, divided by, added to or subtracted from the answer you get to give the answer you should have got.
LAW OF SELECTIVE GRAVITY. An object will fall so as to do the most damage.
JENNING'S COROLLARY. The chance of the bread falling with the buttered side down is directly proportional to the cost of the carpet.
BARTH'S DISTINCTION. There are two types of people: those who divide people into two types and those who do not.
NINETY-NINETY RULE OF PROJECT SCHEDULES. The first 90% of the job takes 90% of the time, the last 10% takes the other 90%.
FARBER'S RULE. Necessity is the mother of strange bedfellows.

Suzy, I hope one of the parents does press charges against the man that stopped the bus. The police should have taken him into custody right then and there. If he is quick to do that to a busload of kids, who knows what he will do to anyone else. You've got to be pretty warped to think it's ok to stop a bus, no matter what happened!

Broni there was a sweet looking tri colour Basset hound at the rescue centre on Sunday. Might have considered him but we wanted something a little taller.
While we were there it did look as if saomeone was interested in him too.

Brenda, she has much longer legs than the Bassets here, but me tinks that is normal for the US doggies.

Broni..... a lot of pet quality Bassets here do have longer legs than they should. Bellas legs are the correct length for Bassets here, too.

Stella we were thinking of getting another puppy, but decided to get a rescue dog instead. There are so many being handed in or just dumped on the streets. This is what happened to the dog we are adopting. She is 3 yes old approx and is an English working setter(might be pure breed or not). Everything has got the go ahead for us picking her up Wednesday morning.

Dropping in for a fast hello here, busy today. It is dampish and cloudy, wonder if rain is forecast.
Broni, why do you need a new paint supplier? If you said I forgot.
Brenda, good luck piking up the pup tomorrow! Hope it fits in well with your household.
I had a nice IM with Liz early today. She was trying to stay up till time to leave on her holiday trip to the beach. She has housesitters to mind the dogs while she is gone.
Heidi, not great timing on your visitor. Perhaps a nap later for you?
Hi Stella, isn't it about time for the temps to be higher than that, even in NY? 64 here and climbing/

Mamacita, good to have you drop in also, always look forward to your posts.
Bullying is so hard to control. Once, some adult would confront the bullying child and make him uncomfortable enough, that he stopped or moderated the bullying. It seems that cannot happen now.

Hello everyone.
Brenda, your new dog looks a happy chappy.Another lucky like Heidi's.
Thanks for the beautiful dog email Broni.
Cyn,it is really heartbreaking to see children afraid to go to school. You want to protect them but aren't there to help.My grandies school has a year 6-7 buddy allocated to them. These older kids show them around and generally look after them.Gives the older kid responsibility and the younger one security.Find out what the schools policy on bullying is.Is the playground supervised by teachers.Usually the smaller the school the better. Some schools eat in the classroom before going outside to play.Good luck.

Renae and Josh still haven't moved yet.Kailah has had a very high temp and was admitted to hospital yesterday for dehydration (it was very quick)like in 24 hrs.She still isn't eating or drinking and they have her on a drip. Her temp had come down last night but she is still very distressed and crying a lot.Poor Mummy hasn't had much sleep. Will continue to monitor her and do some more tests but think it is viral.Daddy is here looking after the other twin, and when I got up this morning they were asleep on the lounge.Maddylain probably misses her sister.
I'm off to work now then have 3 days off.Hope to catch you all later.

Morning all!
Nola - I agree and disagree on the small school thing. It mostly depends on the Principal. In larger schools there are more bullies and it's easier to keep track of the bullies in a small school. But, in a small school there are also fewer kids to 'choose' from. Ally has gone from being bullied in a small school (about 95 kids) to finding friends who suit her in a big school (about 1200 kids).

Stella - please let us know what the ortho says.
Nola - I just saw your post about Kailah! Poor little thing... I hope she feels better today.
When Ally was little and put in hospital, Ebob cried the whole way home - go back and get the baby! Don't leave the baby! For the first night Daddy stayed with her as she was nil by mouth and being around me made her cry. I got to stay the second and third nights when I could feed her again.

Time to get Ebob out of bed - school excursion to Sydney today. At first she didn't want to go as none of her friends were going, I said she had to. She is seeing The Alchemist at the Sydney Opera House, wandering around Circular Quay, and maybe going to a museum if time allows. Definitely an experience not to be missed! Luckily one of her friends has decided to go too. When did school excursions get to be so optional???? Maybe when they started costing $42 plus spending money?

Good morning lovely SA8 people.
Thank you all for the feedback on bullying especially Suzy who emailed me some very useful advice which I will pass on to son and DIL.
Nola - yes this school, like most, has the 'buddy' system in place but for Prep classes. These girls are in years 4 and 2 so their 'buddies' have long since gone on to high school.

Just got back from the monthly Lion's Club "meeting". Only 4 of us showed up, so we had a nice meal and chatted for a while. No club officers. But we did come up with some interesting ideas for fund-raisers that don't require a lot of workers (our biggest problem).
