It looks like that rotation has gone north of us. Only 5 minutes until the big storm front.
You can come out now, Tami.

It has passed. Not as bad as it looked on radar. At least it watered the flowers I planted today.
Now to fling food. Tortellini again. With italian sausage and marinara sauce. Quick to make.

Party for Aunty Vi went well yesterday. She is amazing for a 90yo and was on the move all afternoon chatting to her guests. Saw lots of family that I haven't seen much lately except at family funerals. Nice for it to be a happy occasion.

We got home last night to find the dog very sore and very subdued. We thought at first that someone had hurt her but since decided she may have fallen off our retaining wall in our back garden. We have tried to block her access to it but she thinks it's her DOMAIN and finds ways to walk the line around the wall - just like a cat. And we think she fell and injured her back. Took her to the vet who says nothing is broken but she's obviously in pain,(even hard to get her into the car). Vet gave her an injection of anti-inflammatories and I have to give her tablets for the next few days. She's resting now. Poor little puppy.

If you're wondering about the size of the wall she fell of - check out the family Xmas pic in my gallery - we are sitting on the steps to the terrace in our back yard. The wall is 6 blocks high.

Might as well do one more for a CP.
Also had hubby at docs this morning he's hurt his ribs falling onto his ride-on mower (I did have a smile to myself until I realised he was hurt). Has to have Xrays tomorrow and HE'S on anti-inflammatories as well and he's asleep with the dog. Ciao till later.

Heidi, it is a trick question. No one is buried in Grant's tomb, but Grant and his wife are entombed there. My dad often asked us such trick questions. I remember arguing with him on this one, I lost the argument

Cyn, that is a high wall. I am glad Pup was unbroken . Hope Xrays show same for Colin.
Tami, I will tell Al you said he should quit smoking. I can always hope it might do more good than the last several who have told him.
Heidi, glad your tornado missed you, and the cold front passing through was not bad. Did you convince Lucky he should not dig your flowers? Hope you do not get any real snow, even with flurries in your forecast for tomorrow.
AAAAGH, my computer clo9ck has reset itself back to standard time. It is later than I thought, I should be in bed. CYA tomorrow!

Suzy, the answer has to be A) With the others you would have to believe the old lady was true.
I have done a lot of painting but after I started on the aluminium table I thought I should have sent it away and had it sand blasted and powder coated. I have left the two chairs and see if I can find somewhere to get them done properly.
Feeling tired so thought being here would give me a bit of a rest.
Sorry to hear about Jewel and Colin. Hope they both recover soon.

Suzy, I hope Ebob's ankle and Ally's arm are both improving!
Tami, I hope your Mom is doing well! Enjoy your weekend with the Beasties!

Thanks Julie - Jewel is much better tonight. Whatever was in the injection the vet gave her seemed to sedate her most of the day and late this afternoon she seems heaps better.
The same can't be said for hubby - he's very uncomfortable, poor dear.
Oh well. off to the K room to finish off dinner - corned beef.

Glad there was no tornado.
Warning! Proud Mummy Moment...
Ebob was given the Coaches Award. If I had to sum up what it means I would say enthusiasm and commitment.
Ally's arm is sore because someone grabbed it who is not familiar with her pain...

Well done Ebob for getting the Coaches Award, she must have deserved it or else he wouldn't have given it to her.
Cyn I'm pleased to hear that Jewel is feeling better, but hope Col gets better soon. Do they suspect that he has broken ribs? If so he is going to be sore for a few weeks. Fingers crossed that it isn't ribs as he will have problems doing his work if it is.

Good Morning Sudokuland!
Heidi, I must have read a different forecast than you. they now say a slight chance of flurries till noon, mixed with rain. It still sounds cold and yuck.
Cloudy, windy and cooler here today, will not make 60F (15C) and expected low of 38 (3C) tonight. Where is spring? I will cover my newly planted containers tonight, we get frost when neighbors do not!
I have a Christmas Cactus blooming now. Indoor plant, Recently re-potted from the small nursery pot. One of 6 given me by a friend. They did not sell at Christmas, boss said toss them, she tossed them my way! Heidi rescues collies, I rescue plants!
Congrats E bob, way to go!
HI Julie, Rayray and Brenda!
CynB, happy Jewel is better, hope Colin improves soon. You mention seeing him fall onto his riding mower. Are you going with him on his jobs now? does he have you working again?

From page 84. . . scientific discussion.
Suzy, did they give an answer for that science question? I would really like to know what they say. I see June says A. Since there does not seem to be a possibility of choosing more than one answer, I will go for best answer. I lean more toward B.
A) Collect evidence from people who believe the lady sees the thieves ( this could be research, which is a part of the scientific method)
B) Shout to the lady that the thieves are coming ( this could be a test of a hypothesis, and useful)
C) Send a probe to the moon to search for coins (Finding coins would be useful, finding no coins would not)
D) Look for fingerprints
This is how I would reason this out.
Being a science question, I think they are wanting you to use the scientific method of investigation. you set up a hypothesis with no prejudice as to outcome and try to prove it wrong or right with an experiment. You are looking for measurable evidence. It must be able to see a change, feel, taste, smell, measure in some way.
My hypothesis would be, If thieves come to steal the coins on the moon, then the old lady covers the moon with her skirt leading to the moon going dark.
My experiment would be to shout thief and observe the result.
Gee, it has been ages and ages since I had to think about scientific method, hope I got part of it right hehehe

MizT, I am not going to defend the exam question as I do think science exams are being dumbed down here. I know what my daughter teaches and it is more complex than that question would lead you to believe. These exams are written for two sets of abilities, those who would not pass the really in depth science and the ones who would pass, so not all pupils would do the same questions.
The standard of exams are being looked at at present which is why this became a news item.

Brenda, I hope it did not sound I was making fun of that question, or implying it was dumbing down. It made me really think. I was just wondering if I was thinking in the correct direction. Scientific method is a hard concept for many students to grasp.

And finding NO coins does mean that you found no evidence to support the theory. Most scientific results are not 100%.

I didn't think anyone was having a go at the science question. I do believe that the exams are becoming too easy and that is to the detriment of England. I don't know what exams are like in any other country but here there are, in my opinion too many muliple choice questions. Too much is put on to course work where the child can get help from others to excel. I am from the 'old school' of thought that learning what you are studying so that you cansit an exam and explain your knowledge rather than guess at an answer from list of answers.

I'm off to go buy a ram. This guy goes back to my older bloodlines, and I want to cross back to that for hardiness. My present line is not as disease and worm resistant. He's never been touched by human hands, so I'm gonna have to take my lariat and rope him. I'm actually decent at roping. I can catch what I want most of the time at 25 feet away. While they're running.
