It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

Morning all!
June, MizT and Brenda, I don't know what I'd answer for that question! My first thought was that with A you are doing a second hand investigation with a potentially biased viewpoint, B could be inconclusive as the old lady might recognise a trick, with C, if you send a probe the old lady would hide the coins and you wouldn't find them, and D -what fingerprints? where? In the end I stuck with C, hard evidence - no coins, nobody hiding them. And I'm supposed to know scientific method!

Morning Viv, didn't see you there and had to go back to check how I got the TOPP!

Past Aussie papers can be accessed online, and the multiple choice answers are given. I don't know if you can do the same thing with the UK papers.

If you're interested in the Aussie ones you can find them here...
http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/hsc2008exams/

This is also interesting because it shows a list of all the different subjects that are available to be taken in the final 2 years of school. Most subjects are not available in most schools - if that makes sense. eg Arabic, Aremenian, Croatian and Hebrew are not offered in my area, but Dance is...

Just realised I put in the link for 2008 papers only,

http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/hsc_exams/

That one goes back more years and the earlier papers have the marking guidelines available.

Back with the ram. He's a big boy.... about 200 lbs. I got him on the second toss of the rope. Everyone was impressed. He's in with my ewes now, and really happy. He didn't know there were so many ewes on the planet..... he had been in with only 2 ewes.

Good afternoon. My answer to the science question was, ignore it. I was never good at science and when I see that word, my brain shuts down. I am going to post a 5th grade math question. I will not tell the answer, but will send a pm if you want to know if you are correct.

5th Grade Math Problem:

This is not a trick question. This is a real math
problem, so don't say that a bus has no legs. There is no bus driver.

There are 7 girls in a bus.
Each girl has 7 backpacks.
In each backpack, there are 7 big cats.
For every big cat there are 7 little cats.

Question: How many legs are there in the bus?

As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with 40 wives.
Every wife had 40 sacks.
Every sack had 40 cats.
Every cat had 40 kits.
Kits, cats, sacks, wives:
How many were going to St. Ives?

Heidi, it is not the same as St. Ives. I learned St. Ives with 7 wives, 7 sacks, 7 cats etc. I know the answer but won't say it here to ruin it for others.

Heidi, your riddle is another my Dad taught me, years ago, but with 7s instead of 40s in it. I worked math for a long time, no calculators in our house, heck there were no hand held calculators back then!

It doesn't matter if there are 7's or 40's. The answer is the same.

MizTricia, your answer is correct. Thank you sending it by pm in case someone else wants to try it.
Heidi, I wasn't saying you were looking for answers. The first time I was told the bus problem I also thought of St. Ives. I also wanted to say buses don't have legs.

lariat |ˈlarēət|
noun
a rope used as a lasso or for tethering.
ORIGIN mid 19th cent.: from Spanish la reata, from la ‘the’ and reatar ‘tie again’ (based on Latin aptare ‘adjust,’ from aptus ‘apt, fitting’ ).

I've named him White Bart. His grandpa was the best ram I ever had. His name was Black Bart. This guy looks like a white version of him. Very long and wide in body.

Lucky has figured out how to get out of the yard. He lays on his side and wiggles under the gates. Then he chases the cats and poultry for fun. Once he's tired, he goes back in the yard. I think he's TOO smart.

For those who have asked Indi has settled well into the household. Callie has accepted her but they are still in a struggle to see who has top position in this house pack.
She is nothing like her description from the re-homing centre. According to them she snatches at treats, she plays with toys and balls, she is very vocal when meeting other dogs. In actual fact she is exactly the opposite. She waits until she is told for treats, she is not interested in playing with toys/balls and she rarely barks at other dogs. She is also housetrained.
After a long walk yesterday she had to have a shower, now her fur feels silky soft, not greasy as it did before.

Good morning lovely SA8 people - can't stop to chat this morning, have to help Col with some quotes. If he gets these jobs, we'll be laughing for a couple of months. They're big jobs.
Jewel back to normal today. Col gone for his Xray.
Heidi - so White Bart is in sheep heaven with all the ewes. I know how many people are going to St Ives.
The other one, I did know the answer but have forgotten it and remember how frustrating it was last time so I'll pass this time - sorry Tami.
Brenda - thanks for the update on Indi, glad she's settling in well.
Hello Rolanda, Suzy, Susan, Broni, MizT, Viv and anyone else I may have missed.
