Suzy, thanks for the "others" The only reason I put Bean on the list is she had done it herself so when I updated it, I added her to the bottom. I hope that makes sense.

As we are on broadband and my computer goes through his I logged out on mine as well and he should have just checked them anyway. So I may hay as the suneshines, as they say, and got them printed. Back to putting them in the carsd!

Back inside. The snow started coming down pretty hard, but I didn't feel it in the tractor. I love that thing.
The horses are in for the night, a real rarity. They prefer sleeping out in the pasture, but it is so cold and muddy (30F) that it would have been miserable for them. 30F isn't cold enough to freeze the mud.

THAT was a first for me. I clicked submit, and the page went solid white and stayed that way. I had to reload, and saw that the post went through.

MizT... I'm glad I decided to use the big tractor. I dozed off a little and didn't get our until after dark. The headlights on that tractor were a blessing because the security light over the cattle feeding area decided to pass away. The headlights lit it right up while I was feeding. I know I could have used my truck, but that requires lifting the buckets of feed up and down from the bed of the truck. The tractor bucket goes down to the ground, so there's no lifting up or down for me.

Heidi, glad you got the feeding done and stayed warm in the cab of the tractor! 30* and wind and snow can be miserable. especially for us southern bells who are unaccustomed to weather quite like that! Only one tiny area of Alabama got snow, north west corner. It should not make it down this far south.
CynB, thanks for the offer of a card, but I was just joking with you. Since I could am not sending cards this year, we will wait till next year to exchange cards, OK? I will be sendin=g out a cyber card later though, hope to find another as pretty as the Thanksviging one, I liked that!

We all know how much we care about one another. This scare with Rayray proves it. I don't think we NEED to send cards to one another to remind everyone of this.

You are feeding buckets of feed, is that what the farmers here call sweet feed? I know on the farm, that was put out in a feeding shed, on "tables" that ran the length of it, around the outside walls and double ones down the center. Each cow seemed to have her own place at the table. I went with AL a few times when he had to feed, when the farm caretaker was out of town, or working late on his day job, or otherwise indisposed. the cows would be at the gate waiting for the feed, they knew what time it should be out for them! The feed was poured from buckets onto the tables, then the gate was opened. Best stand out of the way, they were in a hurry to get to their food. Once they ate their portion, they went back through the gate and gathered round the round of hay, and munched that, happily.

Heidi, I saw someting once that was a treat to see. Neighbors young son and i were walking in the pasture, hunting berries or something. Came along a fence line, and on other side of fence the cows were in a semi circle, with their rumps toward the fence behind them, quietly standing and watching. I did not know watching what, till we got closer. Up against the fence, a cow was in labor and the calf was born just about the time we got there! It seemed all the cows were there not to watch the birth but to watch for any predators, protecting the cow that was down, giving birth! Never saw anything like that before or after, but thought it most interesting!

That is a frequent sight when the first calf of the season is born. With more calves born, I rarely see it. Then we have one cow who goes a little crazy when she feels the first labor pain. For some strange reason, she thinks that means that she has already given birth. So she tries to steal the youngest calf in the field from it's mother. I have to get out there fast, and keep her separate until she's given birth. That's generally 2 hours later.

Every cow is different, like every woman is different. Last Spring I saw the funniest calving that I've ever seen. A few of the cows give birth quickly. I was watching one of them start in labor. Actually, for her, it didn't seem to be any work at all. She gave only 2 pushes, and the calf flew out 10 feet behind her. IH was watching too. I just started laughing. She needed somebody with a catchers mitt behind her.

AFternoon all! Coffee break here - should be a lunch break but there isn't time.
I just bought a turkey, a half ham and a leg of lamb all at the same time. Boy does my wallet hurt!!! Oh well, they would have cost just as much separately..

I had fun shopping, which is rare for me. I was on my phone discussing the merits of various size turkeys with hubby and a woman came up behind me. We started talking about turkeys, then grocery prices in general, then she told me about her trip the day before which had cost her over $400 - for her son's birthday party tomorrow. That's MY birthday!!
Then I knew the person in line in front of me at the registers, and then knew the person behind me at the registers - who told me that I didn't have to pay $70 to go to Ebob's presentation night, they'd come up with $5 no-eating tickets..
