Morning June. Hubby walked by to say goodbye just as I read your message and told me that he wanted to go to one of the games - first I've heard of it! Apparently they are playing in Wollongong? Although we will be in Sydney this weekend we have to leave early Sunday morning to get Ebob to her game. I bet yours will be a great game to watch!

I'm wondering if I should knock a few things off my to do list so I can get some christmas cards out this year???

Nola, I dread that part of summer, though it doesn't get as bad down here. Overcast with the occasional drops of rain right now.

Morning lovely SA7 people.
Going to the Christmas party at the care place where Mum lives today. Feel a but ho-hum about it but as long as Mum enjoys it, I will. Taking my Aunt, and she's good for a laugh if the party is no good.

Nola - I saw the film 'Australia' yesterday and to my surprise I liked it. It's not 5 star rating but it is entertaining.

I don't think I told you about last night. The girls and I went to see a local production of Scrooge. Ally's singing teacher was in it - a small part, but well done. About half of the cast were children. Ebob was ecstatic to see that a boy in her year was in it, along with his younger brother. Another boy who goes to a local private school and sits next to Ebob on the bus sometimes was also in it. Apart from the usual multiple part thing, he was also the ghost of christmas future. When they were all waving goodnight at the end Ebob got a special wave from him. It was fun. I even took the girls a little early so they could join in the before show chit chat.

Liz - that's sad about the resident passing. I've got to know a lot of the other residents where Mum is and I always feel sad when I hear that one of them has gone. It's so sad to see how these people with dementia spend the last years of their lives.

Liz - I think I read that your weight loss program is Weight Watchers. I wanted to tell you that my daughter was a very big girl and did her weight loss through Weight Watchers On-line. She has had amazing success and is now an Aussie size 12 which is good considering she is nearly 6 foot tall. I am very proud of her achievement, she has changed her life around and her thinking when it comes to food, and she looks GREAT. Wish her Mother could do it!

It was a very sad day thats for sure
and due to the gastro we have in the place I couldn't even go to her room
and I like to do that just for a moment to say goodbye, she died in hospital, but still like to just sit in the room,
before the staff pack their things

I decided this morning, while waiting for Ally to get ready for school, that I had better get a bit organised about this christmas thing. I started with a list of people other than 'us' that I will need to buy a gift for. There are 32 names on the list!!!! I am now in panic mode. I have been collecting things for a while that I plan to assemble into gifts, but there is no way that there are 32 of them! Holy cr.... you know what I mean..

Speaking of weight... I think my girls are a tiny bit bigger than they should be, but not really overweight. At least I thought that. I just took some of Ally's measurements so I can start her costume today and just about fell over backwards. Her hips are 34"!!! Hmmmm, maybe I should look at what I'm feeding them.

was told doing online aswell as meetings is a good way, but online is $60 per month and then the meetings on top of that is another $18 per week, but am thinking I will join on line after Xmas, with the meetings seems best, met a girl down there last night who has now lost 35 kilos and she said the first 2 months she was up and down, she said just keep it going, eventually you learn where your going wrong

when I first started to work in the aged care facility where I am, when a resident passed away the staff would pack the belongings into plastic bags, after a month or so, of watching family members carry these big garbags to their cars, I asked the manager if this could be changed to boxes instead, I found it horrible that the residents belingings could just be thrown in to garbage bags, it was changed straight away,
and now I get comments about it, with big thanks from some families.

Liz - my daughter said the first month or two were the worst. I didn't think she paid that much for the on-line thing. Isn't that ridiculous, basically you just do it yourself anyway but you have to be registered online to work out points etc. She has lost about 67kgs.

Liz - that is a good idea about the boxes. When my Dad passed away, Hubby and I went to collect his belongings from his care home and they were neatly packed, for sure, but in clear plastic bags. Sort of exposed or something.

OH my boss tells me, I have changed a lot of things already, and she thinks I focus a lot on bereavement and the palliative stage for the resident and the family..
I have started a memory table with flowers and a photo of the resident that has passed, for one week the photo is displayed, and I tell one of our male residents to go and lower the flag to half mast for 2 days, as a sign of respect.
