As I said earlier I have been looking at eggbid at the pheasant auctions. Some of those birds are going for a lot of money especially when you add the shipping to the price.

The last group of pheasants I'm bidding on are 2 Red Golden females ending on the evening of the 7th. Sunday. If you are looking on eggbid, the high bidder for them IS me, by a different name. I'm a MAJOR Goon Show fan.

And yes, the birds here go VERY high, once you add in the shipping. I try to pick them up myself whenever feasible, to save on shipping costs. Especially with larger birds.

I never realised how many different types of pheasants there are.
A couple of times I have had a wild pheasant land in my back garden. I had to be careful not to let Callie out or she would have chased it, being a cocker spaniel. The bird had a little bit of a problem taking off from my garden as the garden isn't that big (about 80ft by 30ft surrounded by 6ft high fences)

G'day all! Busy morning. Beginning to panic that I won't have time to get everything done. It seems a little early to start panicking but time is flying by!

Need to run out to get a baby shower present for my niece who is due in January. My sister is having the shower at her house on Saturday(5 hour drive one way). Our neighbor is having a little holiday party on Friday night for all the neighbors. Can't stay late as we leave at 5am Saturday morning. Still have to do shopping for Meghan, Brendan and Ian and my inlaws and which ever nieces/nephews I get for our family get together. Not enough time, especially when you add in cleaning, decorating and baking!

Have you tried ordering stuff on the internet, instead of shopping in person? Quite a time saver.

You can have a gift overnighted to your sisters house. It'll save running around.

My family usually gets together the weekend after Christmas. We buy for nieces/nephews that are 18 and under. I make up the list every year as to who buys for whom, usually 2 kids each. There is 47 people in my family and we usually have 4-5 boyfriends/girlfriends come too. I haven't done the list yet and my brothers and sisters are asking for it so they can buy the gifts. I'm aiming for this weekend to get it done. That should give them time, especially if we move it to Jan 3rd. I'm supposed to email everyone regarding that as well!

The problem with the baby gift (or any gift) is that I have to be inspired to get it. I can't just get something. I have to search and search until something strikes me as the perfect gift. So far nothing has. That's why it takes me so long to shop!!!

I looked on line but the only thing that grabbed me was a pair of mittens for the little girl Ian's class is sponsoring for Christmas. I'm going to make a hat and scarf to match!

Well, I should get moving. I have to shop before I pick up Ian from school. He has a big box to bring home so I'm getting him rather than Jerry after work. It's freezing rain at the moment, so it won't be a fun drive!

Have a great day Heidi and everyone else!
PS: MizT, any holiday avatars you want to send my way, I'll be happy to have!

Bye, Stella..... Good luck finding the perfect gift. The neatest baby shower gift I ever saw was a pair of soft leather moccasins with beading, sized for a newborn. Just gorgeous.

Forgot to change to a new avatar for the day - not terribly organised here!

Heidi I couldn't resist going to eggbid to see your 'goons' name - hehe. I clicked on it just because it said I could and there was an email all set up to go to you! I didn't send one, couldn't think of anything to say!!

Stella - the list making sounds as bad as shopping. What if you forget someone! Ouch!

Heidi those leather moccasins sound beautiful! Problem is the kids can't wear them! Itty bitty things to swallow... Though would beads hurt?

For the Victorians out there - I'll be interested to see what Brumby's plan for 'respect for the young' is going to be. Personally I think the only cure is consequences. For example, yesterday I was in a temporary shop set up just for this month. One young boy (about 11 - why wasn't he in school?) rode his skateboard into and around the shop while his mate ran after him. They then stood outside swearing and taunting and saying stuff like 'what are you going to do about it?' And there's the rub - there is NOTHING you can do!

I still have to start my c shopping. I have a few stocking stuffers but that's it. Usually I also make a bunch of small stuff so I can give something personal to friends - aint gonna happen this year! I think I've got some crocheted ornaments left over from last year that just need stiffening and they will have to do.

But today I am going to do stuff at home. I need to make sure there are school clothes for next week etc as we are going away on the weekend.

Brenda, sitting with Callie on your lap sounds very relaxing - and a great way to get nothing done and feel good about it! I think I will borrow her - mine are waaaay too big to sit on my lap.

I crochet, but only have the patience to make things that can be finished in less than a day - taking into account that I don't sit and crochet all day!

I used to knit but now can't do more than a few rows at a time - my neck and shoulders torture me for days after overdoing it!

I'm just thinking that I should look for the left overs and stiffen them today. Then I can take a couple with me for the hostess of this weekend's party. I think I have met her before. She was married to my mother's uncle... think that's right! I'll be related to everyone at the party and only know one name!!!!!!!

We only buy for the kids now - though my brother bought me something last year, that was uncomfortable as we didn't have anything for him!

With our ongoing family feud we never know if we are going to see everyone on christmas. One year I had a bunch of presents for boys that sat around for months afterwards. Now I give my nieces and nephews money in a nice card. That way if they don't show up ....
