I’m all set to go to the ortho and then to pick up son from school. Will be able to tell how he did on his final by the look on his face. Hopefully, it will not be too disasterous! Will check back at luch before starting afternoon chores.

I know I have justmade pumpkin scones but I much prefer my light regular scones with nice strawberry jam and cream. Unforunately they said they did not want jam and cream at the bowling club tomorrow so I will also make some ordinary ones with dates in tomorrow but that receeip needs to be eaten when fresh. When making ordinary scones I always add a bit extra baking powder and that makes them much lighter. Do not like the 'hard' ones generally they produce in UK.

There really is nothing better than a devonshire tea. I love light scones with lashings of homemade jam and mountains of whipped cream

June, maybe you could put your recipe for the light scones on the recipe page. The ones I loved were light and fluffy and I've never had anything like them since.

Gail when you get old enough to want to play lawn bowls you will find all these old fuddy duddys who do not want anything to change. You have a Presidents day once every three years and they always have scones for morning tea which are just buttered.......or so I was told. I could put dates or sultanas in them.
Just wait till the next generation get on the commitee !!! ( I was married 20 years before you lot that have been chatting today)

I have done my time in hell, I mean on commitees. It's always the same, doesn't matter what comm. it is, there's always those who dont want change but wont really put their hand up for any of the organising. Boors.

I have been asked to go on the commitee at the club coming up next elections. I did lots for school, kinda, etc in the early days but then H got overly involved and I stepped back as someone had to be home with kids.
Must away to bed, heat the back, ice the foot and get some sleep as a big day tomorrow.

I just put up a recipe on Gails site.

i also just lost a comment into cyber space, hate when that happens.

Rola, your lemon pudding sounds to yummy, but would not be allowed here. REmind me to put up Al's favorite heart healthy, low cal lemon pie. His favorite desert.

Not signed in properly, but it is me. 50 pages since I was last here - goodness me, you have been busy. No time to read, just dropping in to say Hi. Looks like everyone's elsewhere, anyway.

Castor sugar is a very fine white sugar, used for baking; icing sugar is a powder sugar used for making icing - not sure that that's a great explanation, but it might help!

Emm, do you have Food Network? Even if you don't, you could go to their web site, too.

That must equate to 10x fine sugar and powdered sugar here.
12/Jun/07 6:24 AM
emm  From germany
Castor is also known as 'superfine' and icing is also known as 'confectioner's sugar' - if that helps

Food Network is a TV cable channel that has quite a variety of cooking shows on it. The web site is a program guide, but also has all the recipes, cross-referenced so you can look them up by show or by dish.
