Ahhh, Jenni, sorry we are corrupting you so terribly, hang my head in shame!

I wonder just how long ROLA is going to pull weeds, it must not be too terribly cold out in the garden.

I've been digging up bulbs for the past 2 days and probably have 2 more days of it. For some reason my bulbs multiply like little rabbits and every 5-6 yrs. I dig them up and give over half of them away.

I had visited before his first YouTube, but did not leave a message. When I first joined, did a lot of that.
Saw his first one and the music was almost hypnotic (sp?).
His pictures are great.

It is really lovely to be able to give friends and new gardeners something from yur garden. I only have containers here, and not as many of those as were I lived before, had much larger decks and porches then. I had aquired and swapped all manner of MINT, I had I imagine 30 different varities, even a chocolate mint that was soooo nice.

It's too cold in Oz to do gardening - I believe the weeds can just have free run in winter & then I will go & spray them in Spring. We have an easy care garden, no lawn, lots of shrubs & woodchips (so I can just spray the weeds when they appear). There is a photo of my backyard on my flickr photos (it was taken over a year ago & all the shrubs have grown a bit since then)

Hi Rola.
I want to start a container herb garden that I can bring for the winter. Does that work or do I have to start over every spring?

Jenni, I think I saw your back garden, but I shall look again to be sure.

the only thing I have left from all my mint is lemon balm. It has naturalized itself around and under my deck, as have the woods violets. I had both in containers on the deck, and they seeded themselves hehehe I have HUNDREDS of violets come spring each year.

Becky many herbs can come in each year, others need a bit more care. google it and see what can come in and what cannot. Rosemary should be fine and I mint can die back and come out again, some others can also. Well, at least here, you are colder than i am, so you need to look for your zone. your county agent might suggest what will winter over.

I do not have a green thumb so cannot contribute, although did plant two rhododendrums (sp?) yesterday. Had to because I got them for mother's day and they were about to die in the pots!

We did have mint. Had to dig it up when we laid a new sidewalk out back. For some reason it did not like being transplanted. Neighbors have basil, so that can be left out. I was thinking of rosemary, fennel and a few others.
