Hi everyone! Only dropping in for a few minutes - unfortunately I have to do that gninaelc thing! Daughter 2 and fiance are coming tonight, and tomorrow I have to take them out to visit marriage celebrants. Unfortunately they have just told me that one of said celebrants will be coming HERE for an interview! Panic stations, everyone! now I have to clean properly - doesn't she know that that will take at least a week? Not happy, Jan!
Suzy and Heidi, I'm also wondering what the book was. I'll go with something by Terry Pratchett - only laugh-out-loud books I've read in a long time!
Well, have to love you and leave you (so to speak!) Have a great day everyone. :)

I recently giggled my way through Harpo Marxs' autobiography. As well as his sons.

Good night Sudokuland, one more day to be put to bed. Not as cold as last night, that might be good news for our peach farmers.
Catch you again on the flip side.

Gday everybody, Gail and Bean here. Just letting you know that Bean will be offline for the next few days due to connection problems. Bean would like me to make sure you understand that is an internet connection problem, not a brain function connection issue! She would like you to forgive her in advance in case she does not get back to you re any emails or messages you may have sent her in the last day or so.

Hello everyone - back from visiting Mum - good visit today but, as usual, had to park a mile away (almost).
Suzy - love the news story, I'd like to know what he was reading. When I was first working (age 17/18 or so) I used to love Mad magazine and buy it every month. I remember sitting on the bus coming home from work reading "Snappy answers to Stupid Questions' and laughing out loud. I'd look up and people would be staring at me. Eventually I put the mag down until I got home. Thinking of those answers now still cracks me up.

I have another feel-good animal story - this time a dolphin. It was bitten by a shark in Moreton Bay (the bay off Brisbane and Redlands) and was taken to our Sea World at the Gold Coast for treatment - check out link for rest of story:

CynB, my brothers used to get Mad magazine. I would patiently (sometimes) wait my turn to read it. It was definitely a favorite magazine - much more fun than the "teen" magazines!

You're right, Cyn, nearly 1 a.m.
How's Col doing? I hope his support device helps. Hubby and I both now have a "back belt" to wear when we have heavy lifting/work to do - including helping/playing with the grandies.

Thank you, Suzy and CynB for the links to interesting stories! I would like to find out what book the German man was reading, as well.
One of yesterday's links about the Blue Heeler who swam 5 miles and existed in the wild for 4 months after being swept off his master's boat has been picked up in the U.S. Apparently it was even on one of the morning TV news shows.

Heidi, I like your Easter eggs that you have made. I would also love to have seen some of the eggs MizT described.
I have been enjoying the Easter avatars and smilies. I think Bean and I must have similar tastes and "shop" in the same area, as we both have the pastel Easter egg, one of my favorites.

Afternoon all!
Just back from getting my hair cut - regretted making the appointment as soon as I walked in and saw how busy they were - then found out that my hairdresser/stylist had spent the night with her sis who had a baby - straight from the hospital to work! Oh well, what's done is done, but I think I would have been better off staying home....

Julie, the dog story is in the British internet news too. Sure is famous!
Judy, if I had one day notice of a visit like that I would insist that I wasn't home while they were there so I wouldn't be identified!

Julie, Suzy - I'm not here! Can't you see me working - scrub that floor, lift that pail! Oh help! The things that I hate most are the bathroom things - oh well, they have to be done! Also got a whole lot of floor to clean. Here's a question - would you rather vacuum or sweep? I think sweeping's easier, but carpet is more forgiving (ie, hides the dirt better!) Just a personal opinion. Ah well, no rest for the wicked ... yeah I know where I fit in! ;)
Bye!

Hubby arrived and enquired as to what was wrong, something was different...sarcastic bugger, I told him I'd vacuumed!

Judy, are you and hubby still coming, and will you be doing the Puffing Billy bit of it?
Good luck tomorrow with the celebrants.

Brenda, I would love to have more fruit plants in my garden. I don't think I have ever had gooseberries - I've seen them for sale, but they're quite expensive for a small box, and I think it would take several boxes to fill a pie! Anyway, I've watched too much Red Dwarf to take them seriously: "Rimmer, you're a total gooseberry!" Yes I've become very warped!

We've planted fruit trees for the first time ever...so far, so good.
When we moved here, there were two scraggly ballerina apple twigs in the yard, so we took them out of the clay and put them in pots. Now we are digging great big holes and doing everything we can to improve the ground everything is going into.
To date, we have a kaffir lime, yellow nectarine and a cherry tree in. Still to go into the ground are the two apple trees (ballerina grow up in one straight line, breed for small places) and two avocados, that grew from stones. May never do anything, but hey, they're green!

Judy, at this stage, there will be about half a dozen coming in on Billy. We are going to do a shuttle pick-up after people alight at the Cockatoo station. Afterwards, I will be happy to ferry people back to their cars in Belgrave.

My house is as clean as it going to get tonight, and anyway the sucky thing has stopped sucking and is flashing red lights at me, so it's either overheated or it's full. Either way I've given up for the night.
Rob is watching Soylent Green, starring Charlton Heston. I've seen it too many times, and I liked the book better, so I'll give it a miss. We're waiting for Rachel and Wayne to arrive from Qld, but I wouldn't mind going to bed right now. All that gninaelc has tired me out. Plus my knees are red and itchy from kneeling on the floor!

Hi Gail! Love the sound of all your fruit trees - a real orchard! We had a lot when we moved here, but they were in awkward places, never had nice fruit etc. so bit by bit we got rid of them. Now I'm thinking that it would be nice to plant some more!

Ian went to school yesterday but only lasted to lunch time. It was the first time his foot wasn't elevated and it was throbbing. I think the same will be today, but I wanted to him to at least try so he could finish any work that needed to be done since the quarter ends today. I'm picking up the girls tomorrow from Boston. I had to get special permission for Bryana to come home since she doesn't have Good Friday nor Holy Saturday off.
