It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

Broni, take time to BREATHE, and make a list. Do the absolutely necessary first, and work down the list. If some of the "I really wanted to . . ." do not get done, not a big deal. Everyone is coming to see you and Keith and Lynn, they are not coming for a house inspection! Relax and enjoy.

On the news, a gang had a gun battle in a neighbor hood in Detroit and hit a woman in her chest. The bullet only grazed her because her underwire bra saved her! Amazing!

Stella, I read that! How fortunate for her. I did not read it was a gang shooting, just that a bullet had been deflected. That is one good thing in favor of an underwire. I once wore them, no more, they are hurty!

Good morning all!! Looks like another summer-type day here in Utah, but according to the weather people, we're going to be in the high 50's to low 60's next week with rain likely. Hope everyone has a great day!

By the way, thanks for the ideas for lamb & pork!! The greek seasoning sounds great!!! I've used a seasoning recipe I found on our Food Network website, yummy...if this weather stays nice today, I am going to grill the pork outside.

Good Morning Suzanne, Hope you like the Greek seasoning on the pork. Hubby liked it when I used it recently.

I have one shirt finished, yeah! only took 2 days sewing, well, off and on. I have learned to take lots of breaks to keep the achies away. I might cut out another later today, might wait till tomorrow. We will see what the day brings.

Suzanne..... I find lamb is the most foolproof meat. And delish!
Have you ever tried marinating it in Teriyaki? Surprisingly good.

Just catching up on some reading. Milk here is less expensive than in other places, $1.99/gal. I think it is because we have a lot of dairy farms. We buy a gallon of milk every other day for the 3 of us. When the rest are home we go through at least a gallon a day. We also have outlet stores(which I should go to more) for Entenmanns and Friehofer which are the big bread/cake makers. Yumm! They sell things with short expiration dates, so if you can use it up in that time, it is really cheap. (like for a party/bbq) I got donuts for Bryana's whole team once (48 powdered/cinnamon/plain/chocolate) for only $2.

Heidi, you have an advantage with lamb. Here it is very expensive. Where hubby grew up, they had a delicious lamb dish called "spiedies." The lamb is marinated in spiedie sauce and cooked on skewers on the bbq. You wrap a large slice of italian bread around it and pull it off the skewer. Add more sauce on it. Voila! the perfect spiedie sandwich. We make them, but we use chicken. It would be nice to try the lamb again sometime. That's our family's favorite meal. Our niece in Washington DC asked us to bring her down some spiedie sauce because she loves to make them down there. That's the most requested main dish that hubby is asked to make at get-togethers.

The only lamb I'll eat is fresh lamb. Most of the stuff in grocery stores is imported from New Zealand. It has been frozen for a long time AND it's older. What is considered lamb here is under a year old. What is considered lamb in New Zealand is under 2 years old. It tends to have a stronger flavor. Here, that's considered to be mutton.

MizT, I'm pleased that he has managed to pass first time. I haven't sat in the car with him so I will have to let him drive me somewhere just to let him know I trust him (I am a bad passenger). He went out this afternoon for a drive by himself for the first time this afternoon and seemed to enjoy himself.

Brenda, you might have to sit on your hands, so to speak, to let him drive you. It is hard to realize that baby you brought home from hospital is now behind the wheel and trusted by the governing bodies to be responsible enough to legally drive.

If he knows his stuff well enough to pass the first time, he should be a good driver, Brenda. I wouldn't worry TOO much.

Morning all!
Cyn, when my girls were little the doc told me if they wouldn't drink their milk to add flavouring. The milk was more important etc - I figured if it was alright by him, it was alright by me!

Tami, your kids get to go to school on take your kids to work day! That just sounds wrong...

Suzanne, congrats on working it all out, and that younger lady thought you couldn't do it, what does she know?

Seamstress from the bogswamp, you never answered when I asked if you could whip up an extra pair...

Bean, wine on an empty stomach is an effective way to rid your mind of the worries of the day. Actually, to rid your mind of everything!

Stella, I'm going to have to google spiedie sauce. I've never heard of it.

Gail, you go girl - walking again! Inches first, then kilos.

MizT, I find the easiest way to convert cm to inches is to divide by 5 then multiply by 2. For some reason when I try to do it in reverse I can never get the order right.

Brenda, congrats to your son! D1 is supposed to be going for her L's this week, but hasn't studied enough so I haven't taken her down to the RTA.

I haven't thought about which Anzac day thing we'll do this year. I love the ceremony, but hate the speeches. The guy last year was much better so if I knew he was giving the speech again... Both of my girls have got to put the wreath under the memorial when they were in primary school. They looked very proud.

Busy day today getting the new hot water service installed. Supposed to be clearing a space for it right now so will take off again. We're getting split system solar. If you are thinking about changing over there are 3 rebates at the moment - RECS (something about renewable energy) which is about $1305, State $800, Federal $1600. We'll end up paying about $1000 once the rebates come back. A good time to do it!

News story of the day before I go. Some guy spent 6 months finding the letters of the alphabet on google earth. And I thought spending time in here was bad!

Hi All! Spent the afternoon at Costco & the mall with my honey. He has a laptop repair business out of the house (other than his "day" job...Thursday is MY day to go & do what I want, so with lousy public transport here in BFE utah, I like going into Salt Lake City. I'll try the greek seasoning on the pork tonight. Looks like I am cooking it inside today (no barbie tonite, looks like rain). Suzy, Tami MAY be a teacher, but I CAN be taught!!!! Hope all is well with everyone, chat later!!!

Heidi: I'll try the teriyaki on the lamb, it sounds yummy. We don't get fresh lamb here, but Costco's lamb chops are VERY good...I have only had fresh lamb in a restaurant and it was pricey. We can get lamb at Wal Mart, but I don''t trust their food areas so much. I do better at Albertson's (grocery).

Morning lovely SA8 people.
Suzy - glad you're getting your hot-water service at last. We're thinking of going solar too. It'll be cost-saving for you.
Suzanne - I think you have to be a supporting member to be able to get your own smilies unfortunately.
Stella - interesting underwire bra story. How lucky for the woman, though.
Mother/daughter day today - we're off to see my Mum - last time we tried we couldn't get a park anywhere near her nursing home and it was pouring rain. At least today is fine. Afterwards we'll do lunch and some outlet shopping.

Suzanne, if you have pay pal it is very easy to sign up for supporting member. After you get that, then we will give you lessons in making and uploading your own smilies. Heidi is the champ, she has over 700 smilies she has found or created! all those smilies, and other day she could not find one elephant when she 'needed' one hehehe.
