Today is clean and straighten my closet day. I could not find capri pants, I only had 2 pair I had put into a drawer in case we had warm spell early. Need more than 2 pair now, it is hot every day. I have packed into under bed boxes all my winter pants, am sorting shirts and tops into winter and summer now. My bed is a mess, my bedroom is cluttered. Hangers and clothes about, but it has to be done. To many clothes, not enough closet space.

MizTricia: I can TOTALLY relate!! That is why I have a full length closet in our bedroom & hubby's clothes are in his office closet (and military stuff in guest room closet--that stuff will be gone in August when he retires!!) Yippee! I have both my capri pants and jeans out, still too chilly here for shorts!!

Today weather has been warm and sunny. We have been over to the north east coast. Redcar, where the sea front is normaly 5degrees colder than the high street. Today we had a walk on the beach without having to wear a coat. We went a little further north to a place called South Shields and I couldn't resist having a paddle in the sea, letsjust say it was slightly chilly.

Morning all!
Brenda, we are just starting to head into cooler weather. We've had daytime temps around 10, but feeling like 5C. I haven't lit a fire yet, but it's not long away. It might rain today.

MizT and Suzanne, our closet in this place is teeny tiny! We compensated by getting another chest of drawers, but it's not the same.

Suzanne, we lived in Torrance, but right on the Redondo Beach edge. We lived in a second floor appartment and boy did we feel it in the 1994 quake. Not as much as you would have though! eek! I worked in Culver City/Los Angeles - depending on whether I was in the factory of the office. When I quit work we moved to Garden Grove, but in the 'toe of the boot' so we were almost in Cypress, Stanton, those places. 15 minutes from Disneyland!

Someone from my home town area, the report is very vague about exactly where, is being tested for swine flu. Apparently people are tested if:

"They've come from the countries which we are concerned about - Mexico, the United States and Canada," Prof Ferson said.

"We're looking for people with fever and respiratory symptoms which have started within seven days of being in one of those three countries

Suzy:
Spent a lot of time in Torrance & Redondo Beach. Miss that so much!! You felt the quake too, I remember seeing it hit everywhere. We were a mile or 2 from the epicenter. I had a coworker whose house was right THERE on top of it!!! She had very little damage.
The news said that the swine flu is concentrated mostly in states like Texas, Arizona, California...(border states). I don't think we need to worry, because most of the people who are getting sick have been south of the border.

I just hope people remember, to prevent the flu is still hand washing & common sense (as with the "regular" flu)

Hi everyone, haven't been around as I was having pain in my bicep and shoulder of my right hand. Tuesday it was so bad that I couldn't tie my shoes or comb my hair. Went to the Doc today and X-ray showed a calcium deposit, inflamation & bursitius. Gave me a shot of cortisone, Starting to feel a little better.

Glad to hear you are feeling better Bobbi. I hope it continues to improve. Hubby has some shoulder pain right now, wonder how long it will take me to get him to the doc?

Suzanne, I'm wondering how the Redondo Beach pier is looking these days. We had some fun down there.

The '94 quake was an interesting experience. We watched the pool next door move like it was made of rubber. Incredible. We lost a flower pot. A coworker who lived near the epicentre lost every single cup, plate etc they owned - all of them smashed!

Suzy: Haven't been to Redondo since before we left Cali. I loved that area. The '94 quake knocked over my 20 gallon fish tank. Water, fish & gravel all over my hubby & I at 4:31 in the morning, not the best wakeup call. Our fridge rolled & blocked my pantry...The microwave blew up the day before the quake, I think it knew something!! We didn't lose that much as far as dishes & stuff went, we were lucky. I even have Waterford glasses my mom & dad bought us that were not in the box that morning, they never moved off the shelf!! How's that for weird? We were VERY lucky that day.

I'm imagining what it was like waking up with a fish tank on your stomach! A teensy tiny shock to the system...

We were lucky too. Ebob was only a baby so when we heard the quake coming (they say you can't do that, but I have no other explanation for how quickly we moved) we both ran for her room. Later I went back to get the flashlight, which was of course beside the bed, and ran into our solid oak chest of drawers - it had fallen and landed on the end of the bed. The television that was on top of it was sitting right in the middle of the bed!

Ebob had a funny experience at school. They were talking about the northridge quake, in Science I think, and it came out that she was 'in it'. She became a celebrity for a day.

Suzy: Yikes!! My tank hit the nightstand (next to the bed) and cracked from top to bottom. It was a 20 gallon plexiglas tank on a stand. That was also the last time I slept "alfresco" so to speak!!!!! I guess that's a bit embarrassing to admit, but it's the truth!!!! The strange thing is some of my fish were still alive (in the water on the carpet) but I had nothing to put them in, my angelfish were HUGE, they had been 2 of my original fish in the tank hubby bought me 5 years before which was only a 10 gallon starter tank... the 20 gallon was a present and I had re-done it with coral & made it look like a reef tank...that was for Christmas & the e.q. was in January.

Morning all you lovely SA8 people - still can't stop yet - off to visit Mum this morning. Hmmm, maybe later. But I wanted to tell you - do you remember recently when I recounted the story of the murder of some of my schoolfriends near my school in the 50's? Well, Qld is 150 years old this year and our paper is featuring stories every day from past years - today's story - you guessed it - our horrible local murder story. Here's a link -

Hi Cynthia: How are you doing? Weather here in Utah FINALLY nice. We've had threats of rain, nothing yet. Temps in the mid 50's to low 60's, very springlike. Waiting for my lilacs to bloom, they're getting there!! My roses may not survive, trimmed them back before winter, hopefully, they'll bounce back!

Wow Cyn. That was awful. I wonder how the toddler, Elaine, grew up with that in her history.

Off to wash off paint - yep, now the papers are in I'm painting again... But have to take Ally to get a haircut during her lunch break, couldn't fit it in during the school holidays and I figure it would be nice if people could see her eyes when she's singing tomorrow night..

Heidi - please do call the doctor, especially if the fever won't break. You know we'll all nag you until you do.
Hi Broni, Suzy, Suzanne, Tami - and anyone else around and about.
Visit with Mum went well today with no upset when I left her - makes it easier. High Tea there next Friday for Mother's Day - that'll be interesting! Was sitting there today with Mum and 2 other patients, Mavis and Caterina - well, The conversation was hilarious. If you don't laugh, you'll cry. But they were happy even if their conversation (about the depression) didn't make sense.

Suzanne, Ally is 12. The other girls in the group are 16,17 and 19. It has shrunk recently but that's a long story. She is loving it. Tomorrow she will be upfront for 3 songs, and backup singer for the rest. They are singing for 45 minutes all up.

Suzy - I have no idea how the little girl coped with that history. Understandably she and her father, who had already left for work that day, moved away from the area. I think I heard that he remarried. She would be 53 or so now. I do hope she has had a good life.

Thank you Cyn.

I hope the girl had a good life too. I'm hoping that she was young enough to not remember too much of it. I'm glad the newspaper didn't chase her down to check though.

I'd prefer to think they showed some ethical judgement! Makes the world seem like a better place...

The kids from the murder house left town too. Luckily their father already lived interstate so they just moved in with him. Unfortunately it made national news, but nobody in their new place needed to know the link.

Hi everyone! Hope you're all well.
Heidi, have you seen the doctor yet?!! (Get well soon!)
Suzy, I couldn't get on to the link you posted, so I just looked around till I found something that mentioned Nuna. Was it the new railway station story? About bloody time they fixed that - it's been a nightmare for years! If the boom gates break down (as they used to do quite often) you could be sitting there for 20 minutes!

Judy, yes, the boom gates. Very cool to find Nunawading in the news. When my home town made the news it was for horrible reasons!
