I'm still here Heidi and Suzanne. I just pay attention to the numbers so I don't get a TOPP.

Hi everyone! Lots of catching up to do ...
Gail, YES! Happy pants! Just read a definition of them - "excessively bright colours; excessively popular in Australia" Heck yes - you could whip up a couple of pairs in an hour and the boy loved them - what's not to like!
Have been doing a bit of gardening over the weekend - it's looking pretty tidy now. My Dad gave me a huge bag of daffodils, jonquils, and other things to plant - hope they all survive, as we still have severe water restrictions here. His garden is too much for him now - 87 and still recovering from major surgery - but he loves giving us things to plant. Of course we had to do massive tidying before we got to the actual planting ... ain't it the way! Rob's planning on taking some time off, some time soon, so we can hire a skip and do a thorough garden clean up - bring it on! :)
Still rambling through the family history sites - it's fun!
Also still trotting off to the gym about three times a week. Little actual weight loss, but clothes seem a bit looser. (Yes, I'm a loose woman!) ;)

Heidi: I'm right there with you, once I finish this glass of wine, it's nite nite for me.
Judy: I have to get rid of the dandelions taking over my roses!!!! I use Preen weedkiller to get rid of them before the end of fall. Don't know if there is something else anyone knows of I can try. (other than paying one of the neighbor girls to do it!!!!)

Hi, Suzanne, Tami, Bean, Broni, Suzy, Heidi and Judy!

Suzanne, I tend to expect our lilacs usually to bloom for Mother's Day - has been my observation for many years. At least, it's usually within a day or two.

Heidi, I have guessed your age around early 40's. Did you ever get any Gouldian finch chicks?

Tami, I'm sorry I keep missing you. It seems that I rarely get here until after you have gone to bed. One of these days . . .

Broni, I hope your puter returns home in good health!

And now, it seems as if most topsiders have called it a night. As I have an early morning tomorrow, I think I will say, "Good Night, All!"

Have a great afternoon, evening, DUGs! Hope to see you all tomorrow!

Hi Judy and Julie

I wish you could come and have a go at my garden. It's looking miserable! I keep deciding not to water it as the forecast says it will rain tomorrow, only when it gets to tomorrow, the forecast changes to the next day. If the forecast changes again tomorrow I will have to bite the bullet and go for it. We are about to come off water restrictions here. Some heavy rain has helped. If it doesnt' rain again soon though, Sydney will empty our river again and we'll be back on them. Not that it makes much difference here, we're very responsible water users.....

My coffee cup is empty (actually another cup, I went away and then came back) so I had better go and get back into it. I've been distracted lately and my house is a disaster area. A little less of a disaster than it was this morning, but still a disaster...

Julie..... I'm flattered. But I'm 53.

The Gouldians are still setting the eggs. Nothing has hatched yet. I'm gonna give them a few more days.

Now..... Off to bed. I have to be up in 5 1/2 hours.

I hope I can remember some of the interesting topics to comment on while I have been gone all day.Heidi..glad your hand didn't get infected.I will keep watching for a post about the baby gouldians eggs.Hope at least 1 hatches.
My sympathy to those who have had migrains lately, menopause for me was uneventful EXCEPT for the hot flushes at night in bed,and getting shingles.
I thought I was getting a quote done on Thur.for the benchtops.Turned out it was today when he rang to say he was running late. There was a mad scramble then, to clean up the kitchen before he arrived.I am very pleased with the quote and booked in for July.It is a large area for $1200.no taking off old laminex or ripping out tiles.I am very happy with that.

Suzy..I saw in the paper about the Govt rebate for installing solar hot water and it only applies to those who have stored electric hot water systems.
Because I have gas hot water,I understand that we wouldn't get any rebate.

Suzy...I am having it done through Bundaberg resurfacing which you can google.I always used an abrasive cleaner like JIF but you can wipe this stuff over with a mild cleanser, as the water beads, and being a flush gloss finish, don't use knives the same as for laminex.

Good morning all, looks like I have missed everybody again.
I went house hunting yesterday with my daughter. She has decided that with house prices falling here now would be a good time to try and get a foot on the housing ladder.
House was in a nice area but needed quite a bit doing to it and was a bit small. I have to ring agents today to arrange viewings for her on some more properties.

Took Laura to the city today. Train trips, ferry ride on the Harbour, etc. A lovely day but I came home very tired.

Good morning all! Couldn't get on yesterday morning. My computer turned off so hubby backed it up before he left for work. I didn't realize it would take so long. It usually backs up during the night. Took a while to catch up on the reading this morning, which of course I can't remember!

It's been raining since yesterday, but we're supposed to get some sun today. I've got to go get the oil changed in the van in a little bit, so don't have much time.

Had a lovely birthday. We went to the Cheesecake Factory for a light lunch. Then went to see "State of Play" which we enjoyed. By then it was time to pick up Ian from school. Stopped at some stores, looking for a camera bag for me and cleats for Ian. Stopped at Red Robin for dinner. I had a birthday coupon for a free dinner which I let Ian use. Jerry and I had some appetizers since we were still full from lunch. They give you a free birthday sundae, which of course I gave to Ian. A very nice day overall!
