June, you mentioned that you had visited Harewood house when you were in England in the 80s. Where I used to live during the 80s was roughly 50 miles from there and we would often take the caravan there for the odd weekend away. And now you mention you stayed in Colchester which isn't that far from where I live now.

Spent the weekend at my mom's for her 85th birthday. Had to drive the whole time since Jerry was still recuperating from his eye op. I'm really tired this morning. On the way back I brought Brendan back to college which was 1 1/2 hours out of the way. It was a beautiful day yesterday, 59F, so it was a nice drive. (5 hours)

My sister made a corned beef and cabbage dinner for everyone for my mom's birthday on Saturday. It was very good. I've only had it a couple of times.

We had a nice time talking, reminiscing and singing old Irish songs. I was talking with my 3 sisters about how we would love to travel someplace like Ireland, Italy and Australia. I told them I would love to go to Australia since I have friends there that I could visit and stay with. They all asked how I had friends there and I told them about Sudoku. They all laughed at me and said it was ridiculous. I told them that they were wrong and that I had friends all over the US and other countries that I wouldn't hesitate to visit because I've been "talking" to them for years! They looked at me as though I was pathetic.

I have just about given up all hope of getting back her today and catching up...
Tami I have just read about your surprise for the Beastie Boys...how absolutely fabulous!! Believe it or not I am not really fussed about TOPP's or the TOPP list being posted..LOL...if it is there I do like to be on it even if my score is 0!!
Hi Julie...haven't seen you about the traps for yonks!
June I watched and loved 'Lost in Austen'...even Pete watched it with me and he never watches some of the stuff that I love...I missed the list of the houses that it was filmed in. Just loved the gardens. It was very clever and very funny.
hi CynB...I love my friends too and loved your Utube ..oh..missed Kate on your list and someone else who has popped over from easy and even managed to make the TOPP list in the past LOL...
Thank you Tricia and Broni but i assure you you would know if I was having a hissy fit....ever seen a bull on a rampage...watch out china shop...I don't think we are that delicate her in SA...at least I hope not...
ah Broni...you aren't trying hard enuff...burnt the bread in the microwave...no flames? Try again, but, I'm glad you got out in the boat...
Brenda I enjoyed looking up Weardale...would love to go trecking on the moors. It looks wild and very Wuthering Height'ish. [I'm a romantic at heart] I LOVE the dry stone walls.
GOOD GRIEF...13 tabs to open..
AND myspace!!!

Rolanda, thanks for putting up photos of your lunch with Sudoku friends. Lovely area you were in, I do enjoy seeing the water areas around Australia. I love water. My dad called me his little puddle duck, when I was small!
BRONI, glad you got a trip out in the boat, sounds so fun.
BEAN whatever for did you make such a pact? My work is never done, always some task left over for tomorrow, perhaps that gives me a good reason to get up and going of a morning, knowing I have a task needs doing.
SUZY, hope the electric fence controls the lawn mower. Only one at this time? Good on your Mom, finding her way around her computer. Next, you both need video cameras, so she can "visit" you and her grandies.
Cyn, hope the storm was not severe and no damage.
SUSAN, I think most of us have enjoyed and played the TOPPs game at one time or another. As newbies came, well, it was just their turn to have a go at it.
V Viv, now I know I am old! They are teaching in school the Vietnam war and I lived in that era? Remember my brother being over there. He came home a changed person. Thank you for the Humpty Dumpty history. Many of the children's nursery rhymes were political commentary, strange things to sing/say to your babies, eh?
Broni, I READ ALL OF THAT hehehe.

ruddy 'ell...I'm only up to page 59 BUT....
WOOHOO...HEIDI is back AND she has added to her menagerie....gotta say I love a little retail therapy. Do you plan on starting your own breeding program? What colour markings will your new chicks have when they are mature - can you tell when they are really young?
I think I should go to bed and finish this tomorrow...who knows tho...if I keep reading I may not need to ask so many question!!

Pardon my manners, Good Morning Sudokuland!
Brenda, I was reading all the interesting posts from overnight, trying to catch up, and forgot to check in first.
STELLA, glad the trip was safe, know it was tiring for you to do all the driving. Hope hubbies eyes improve soon. Yes, I get that same look from some people, if they are not involved with a small, friendly community on the internet. But someone who is, they understand immediately. D#3 and partner understand, they play games online (action/fantasy games) online and have friends in Australia also!
OK, after the Humpty Dumpty thing, anyone know the origins of any other nursery rhymes?
I happen to have read about Ring Around the Rosey, and Mary, Mary quite contrary. I am sure there are others I know. anyone up for this game? BTW, I do not remember reading about Humpty Dumpty before.

Back to my book this morning, I have 120 pages to read to catch up. This is too interesting to have to return without reading it all, and I have already renewed this set of books, I read 3 others the first 2 weeks I had them.
Question for others. . . How long may you keep books from the lending library? Our libraries let you keep them 2 weeks, but you may renew( by phone or in person) them for an additional 2 weeks. If you are still not finished, they MIGHT let you check the book in, and back out again, if noone is waiting for it! My plan B for this book is return the other 3 books early and if I am within a day or 2 of finishing this one on due date, I will keep it and pay the 5 cents a day fine. Dines are one way of supporting the library, a $ or less at a time hehehe
OH, how much a fine are you charged for over due books??

Hello stranger...nice to see you back Becky!
Have decided to keep reading and posting as I go just to give you all the irrits...make you all sorry for wanting me to poke my nose in and post!
Ah Heidi..I really hope that Bonnie gets to stay with you...it sounds like she needs someone with your degree of understanding.
I have finally caught up with the post I made 8 hrs ago!!
Electric fence...what a good idea!!!
At this hour I should go to bed but the end is in sight...how can I stop now...
Broni...Keith you say...who is this Keith...???
Can you keep a secret...ever heard about the Melbourne vs Sydney competition? WELL...I live in Melbourne!! Say no more....we know how to show someone a good time!! He he...the gauntlet is down...why race for TOPP's when we can race for the host with the most....
I'M JOKING EVERYBODY!!!!!!
Gee's Viv...did you read it all Broni...condensed version of salient points only...I'm struggling here... Well done Tricia for reading it all...I am just too tired!
Ah Stella...LOL...I thrive on mess...you can come stay with me anytime providing you don't mind mess. I get the same reaction when I try to explain SA to friends...people are amazed at all the people and places I talk about and where you are all from etc. My sister laughed when she recognised a photo of a special sudokuite that I have on the shelf as being one of those not so 'real' friends!!
I don't believe it...I have caught up!! Yes Tricia...I did find where Heidi had commented on her breeding plans. Problem is with CRAFT's prompting you to post as you read...not to worry...quite a few people do it so I don't feel tooooo guilty for excessive posting...do feel a bit tho if I ask a question and read another page and find the answer...or worse....only a few posts down...

The new babies are both red headed. The male is nearly in his adult colors (8 months old), and the female (6 months old) is getting the first of her adult feathers. she has 2 red feathers on her head, both under her left eye.

HEIDI, can you put the unrelated babies in with the adults? No fighting or setting of pecking order with these birds? I was just wondering.
Will they pick their own mates or will you separate out ones you would like to mate? Gee, so much to have to know about breeding birds. I have known a couple of people who did it. A friend of Mom's was breeder of parakeets back in the 50's, more a hobby than a business, she gave them to friends. A friend now known around the bird bulliten boards as BirdMan or Frodobird is a friend .

All 10 are together right now. These are very peaceful birds. They act like they've been together all their lives. When it's time to breed them, I'll separate out the pair into a breeding cage with nest.

Morning all!
I love it when there's a lot to catch up on, but I've decided to comment before I finish reading or crafts disease will set in...
Viv, I read it all and count it as my fact for the day!
Stella, you would be welcome here anytime - especially if you are used to mess.. hehe
Broni, I would probably manage to burn bread in the microwave if I tried to do it. When I cook for my girls I serve up small portions so if it's really really bad they can make themselves some noodles or something to have instead.

MizTricia, we have both lawn mowers but only the young adventurous one escapes. The little old lady just looks mournfully over the fence at the lush green grass he is getting to eat. My neighbours haven't mown their grass back there for quite a while and it is very long and green. Lawn mower paradise!

Re library books - we can borrow for 3 weeks, but there are no overdue fines. I'm not sure why they eliminated them but have 2 theories - people are more likely to return the books if they don't have to pay a fine OR someone decided the fines disadvantaged low income people and we don't want to disadvantage them because they really need to read (I've noticed a lot of condescending stuff goes on under the guise of 'doing good', that's where that one comes from).

Stella, I love the sound of the birthday celebrations. Well worth the long drive.
MizT, dredging through my memory, was Ring around the Rosy about the plague, and was contrary Mary a Queen?
Hubby has taken a day off work today and is planning on finishing the bathroom ceiling (with my help of course), and the lawnmowers are getting their new fence (again with my help)... Should be a very interesting day.
