That was so nice of you to bring mints, I'm addicted to Altoids but will try the Frangos. You are right, I do not comment often but am here almost daily. I see many have brought spirits, I'll leave my spiced popcorn for munching while we visit.

Hi Julie--
Thanks for the Day Lilies and the mints. Yummmmm....
I feel so welcomed on this site--and the daily Sudoku keeps me company with my morning coffee. Domino is growing fast, and will soon be old enough to be a husband and father. My dogs are my weakness, as you see; they are the lights of my life. You must live in the country, too, with deer passing by for their daily snack of day lily. Say hi to them for me!

Thanks for visiting my page Julie, it was nice to see you.

As far as my comment goes (with regard to Susan's joke) ...sometimes we forget that everyone on here does not share our culture, lifestyle or background. It's easy to sit at a computer and just presume that words you use and thing you read mean the same thing to all others. We have proven time and time again in the chatroom (with many laughs at the same time) that there are some HUGE differences between meanings of words even between Australia and USA - let alone other countries where English is not their primary language. A little bit of tolerance and benefit of the doubt goes a long way on this site - oh ..and smiles.

Hi, Julie!

Thanks for your visit. Yes, it is a small world. I keep bumping into people from the Crystal Lake area no matter where we are! The most recent (besides you) was at a cocktail party in Sanibel, Florida, last November. One of the couples at the party was not only from Crystal Lake, but they were both teachers at the high school I went to! The most bizarre encounter was several years ago when my husband and I were living in Virginia but spent most of our time in Europe and South America on business. On one trip (I wasn't there), my husband was flying into Quito, Ecuador, when the plane overshot the runway. Fortunately, no one was injured, and after the passengers disembarked, a stranger standing next to my husband happened to comment on the suit bag my husband had over his shoulder. There was a logo from a Madison, Wisconsin men's clothing store on the bag, and the guy asked my husband if he was from Madison. My husband said, 'no, I went to graduate school there.' The stranger said, 'so did I', and they proceeded to chat. One thing led to another and before long it was discovered that the stranger was an old classmate of mine! We went all through grammar and high school together in Crystal Lake!

I know how Crystal Lake has grown. I get back for all my high school reunions, and I have many childhood friends who still live there. In fact, my old gang (dating back to Brownie Scout days!) will be getting together in early November at a friend's home in Huntley. (While I'm there, I'll see if Mrs. Fischer's potato chips are still being sold locally)!

Take care! Jane

Altoids now come chocolate covered, but don't leave them in your car, they'll melt and then stick together when cooled. My computer died, so I haven't read mess.s 'til today. I brought some more popcorn for you, it'll keep longer in Tuperware. Enjoy

Hi Julie! I keep missing you on SA so I thought I would stop by your place and see how you're doing. I'm still unpacking and unwinding from my vacation while trying to get in gear to get the 3 kids ready to go away to school. We have a conflict with S#2's first day of school (they're starting a day early) and getting D#2 to boarding school on the same day. There's always something! Brendan leave for college on the 17th, hubby turns 50 on the 18th, and Brendan turns 18 on the 27th, so we'll have to have early parties for them. Well, I hope you had a great day! Here are some flowers to help brighten it. Take care! ps: Gath started a new SA3 page to help the posts go through faster.

Thanks Julie - for the welcome you gave me itself, and for your welcome explanation about the site. I still haven't fathomed the presents people leave each other. I suppose I'll find the mints you left after I've tidied up my room a bit.
I've left you some french-style blueberry tarts - a speciality of mine.

Julie,
Thanks for coming over and taking a look at my boys and some Flower show pictures. You are absolutely correct in thinking that Disney is my favorite place to vacation -- especially in April/May when they have their annual flower show. I've posted some other pictures on my site so you can take in more of the experience.

Julie, thanks so much for stopping by my page. You are welcome to linger for as long as you like. I've put out some chips and fresh salsa made with tomatoes from my vegetable garden. There is also some chocolate zucchini cake on the counter if you care for some.

Thank you for the candies. I remember Marshall Field's from my childhood. Every time we would visit my grandparents who lived in Chicago my mom would take me shopping there. What a treat.

Please visit me again!

Julie, thank you so much for the laugh. I had not realized that we planted all the P fruits.

Yes the little girl is our pride and joy but not a P in her name. Though we have a pet named Precious and had one named Puppy. Oh my gosh--you just opened a flood gate in my heat--we have had a Puddles, Petunia, Pet--cannot remember the name but I named a dog after a character on the orignal Dukes of Hazards. My goodness did not realize I am obsessed with 'P's'.
Anyway, I enjoyed talking with you too and you are welcome to my site anytime. The plan is to have new pics up before school starts but that date is approaching fast.
Have a great day.

lol Julie, I just read your comment - You have no idea how right you are. Picture this: middle age (let's leave it at that) woman, in the middle of a road that runs to nowhere through a swamp, laying on her stomach as the sun sets in the horizon, taking photos of a frog the size of a dime - while all this is going on she's wondering 'how in the heck am I going to get up?' That, my dear friend, was 'yours truly' this evening.
I am so very glad you enjoy my photos. My hobby keeps the psychiatrist away.

Julie for your best wishes on James 18th Birthday. Adulthood has arrived - maturity is still to come. He is a lovely boy though - even if I have to say it myself.
I think he has had his first trip to the pub to buy a beer - I'm sure there will be many more to follow.

Hi Julie, Thank you for your messages. Sorry i am a bit tardy answering the one you sent the other day. The horse with the eye removed is back home and doing OK. It is not the one Laura is feeding in the photo. i had a great day yesterday meeting up with Linda/ Pioneer who is visiting Australia.
Where are you off to in the next couple of weeks. I tried skimming back over posts but could not see any comments about you being away. (It was a quick skim)Where ever you are off to have a wonderful time and look forward to reading your posts when you get back

Hi Julie, all is well here as I hope all is well with you also. I have my 6 yr old niece staying with us for a few days. It is nice for Amber to have a playmate. Are you going on vacation? If so, have a good time. When I was away and when my internet wasn't working, I had to beg, borrow and steal internet usage wherever I could. I just couldn't stay away for too long. I'm sure we'll connect on the SA page again soon. Take care.

Julie, thanks so much for dropping by with your kind words and wishes for my mother's health. I shake my head at what that little 103-pound body has been through these past few years and marvel at how optimistic she is this time around. I hope her optimism is rewarded, though I know we've been blessed to have these "bonus years", having nearly lost her three years ago. We'll just continue to pray and see what each day brings. I'm touched and buoyed up by your support; it really helps. Bless you and yours.

Hi there, Julie--the umbrella is up and we're weathering the storm. Hubby's mom has a broken bone in her shoulder and the nursing home is investigating how a bruise could have gone unnoticed for three days ... Also had a couple of great visits with my mom who is determined to get well. She continues to tell her funny stories and is amazing us daily. Perhaps we'll be granted another miracle and can keep her with us a while longer. The support of this terrific international Sudoku family is absolutely awe-inspiring. The world is full of tremendous people.

Oh my gosh Julie, how awful for you and your husband! You must have been scared out of your mind. Sorry that your wonderful trip had to be cancelled. You both must be heartbroken. At least you are home now and can maybe figure this out. It is very frustrating having to wait so long to see a specialist, especially when you are still so worried. My thoughts and prayers to you and your husband that everything turns out fine. Take care of yourself.

Hi Julie Thanks for the visit to my page. The mints were great. I'm not that strict about talking when with my grandkids. I hope we catch fish and I always bring treats.
Here are some fresh crappie fillets from a recent trip to the lake. Bread them and fry them up. They are great to eat.

Dear Julie, Thanks so much for your lovely message of condolence the other day. I am still gobsmacked about this site. If you read any other website "forum" where people write comments to each other, they are always full of smarty, nasty comments and the members are just not very nice to each other. How different are we!!!
It makes me wonder if there is something about the psychological makeup of those who enjoy games like Sudoku, that basically they are just nice people.
Thank you again for your message, and also my best wishes to you and your husband on his illness. I hope he is recovered and it's not too long before you can pick up where you left off with your holiday.

G'day Julie. It was nice to hear from you, and thanks for asking about the mice. It has been a real plague as they have been running wild and are only now starting to fade off. I have been so careful not to leave even a crumb of anything on the floor or benches but still they have been attacking anything they can get their teeth through. They have even been getting into my undies drawer and eating soap that has been there unmolested for years! Tried the electronic thing, baits, traps and so on, and the mice just laughed. I think I just have to wait it out. I really, really hate the little mongrels!!!
