It sounds like your MIL was a very special lady, Heidi, and I'm sad to hear of her passing. My MIL is 93, still active and independent, but starting to fail. Aren't we lucky to have had these wonderful women in our lives? Love you.

Heidi, I am so sorry for your loss. I understand the closeness you can have with your MIL. When my MIL died twenty years ago, I felt I loss my best friend. She was very kind and loving when my own mother disowned me for marrying a Caucasian. I know it won't ever repair the tear you feel in your soul but my prayers go to you. and cyberhugs are coming by the truck load.

The first year, I'd see something and it would set me off in tears. The worst was driving on the freeway and crying. But as time passed those crying jags would stop but still have the fond memories. Just wish my younger son could have known her as well. She got to hold him once when he was two months old before she passed on.

Heidi, it took me a while to figure out from the comments on Easy what you had been crying about. I didn't think it was the jumping horse, so I decided to check on SA8 (I hardly ever have time to go there). I was very sorry to learn that you & Gil were mourning the death of his mother. It sounds like you loved her a lot, too - not always the case with MIL's! But obviously you are a person with a LOT of love in your heart not only for people, but animals, too. My very sincere sympathy on your loss.

Hi Heidi! Just saw your birthday greeting to Shosho on her page. That gets my vote as the most creative & fun filled greeting EVER in the history of Sudokuland!!! Thought of you this morning while I was in my daughter's third grade classroom (she's the teacher, not a student!). During the night baby chicks started hatching in the incubator she has there. It was so exciting to see them! I can only imagine how many thrills you have had like that watching baby
critters of all kinds come into this world. As of when I left there were 14 chicks with about
6-7 more yet to hatch. Sadly, one died before he made it out of the shell. I brought him home to bury him in our backyard. Hope all is well with you. How did your MIL's memorial service go? May she rest in peace.

Heidi, Jane tells me that you may be coming to our Sudoku meet up in Daytona Beach! That would be great. I would so much love to meet you. I'm sure it must be hard for you to get away. Who would take care of all your animals for you? I have just made arrangement with Debby from MI. I will be picking her up at the airport in Orlando & bringing her with me to Jane's rented cottage at Ormand Beach on July 23. She is so excited & so am I! Anyway, I hope you can work things out so we "hens" can lay around at the beach together for a few days! We'd love to have you join us.

Yippee! You can come! What a great day this has been - had confirmation from three great Sudoku ladies, you, Debby, & Mamacita, that you will all be meeting up with Fiona, Jane & me in Florida. We're going to have so much fun, but I WILL warn you - it's VERY hot in FL in July. Bring your bikini & sunscreen - we'll sit by the ocean & drink margaritas while we keep as cool as possible!

Thank you, Heidi! Hubby's aunt had been in a nursing home for about 7 years. She recently had been put on oxygen and was losing her vision due to macular degeneration, but really hadn't had other setbacks. A visitor an hour before saw no difference, so it was sudden. She had a good life and loving sisters. (She lost her husband in 1973, I think.)

Heidi, I noticed the comment on your shell collection in today's 'Easy' and wondered if you had any photos you could share. I have a reasonable collection which is kept mainly in a chest of drawers I had made specially. There are a few photos in my gallery.

Heidi, weren't you the lucky one to spend your late teens and early 20's in the tropics, on the beach. Tell me the way that all came about! I was in Tamarindo in the winter of 1995 or possibly 1996, with a couple of girl friends. We loved it -- the shelling was just heavenly with the tide going out so far and leaving all those little pools to investigate! And, of course, we walked everywhere but that didn't take very long. That is where we had the iguanas who just about begged at the table when we ate outside. The "air port" was a landing strip with little boys running out of the jungle to help with your luggage. The "gas station" was a tank suspended above ground. It was all quaint and wonderful fun! Tell more about your adventures there!
